Take it back and tell them to keep trying.

Virginia lemon law can apply after three attempts at repairing the same issue. I'm on #2 right now.

Just realized that mine is now making the noise all the time, warm or not, even after the TSB. How fun. Time for it to go back to the dealer

Well may as well chime in. Yup had mine done and all the recalls. Same issue. Seems more subdued and transmission shifts "differently". I chose "different" because I'm not convinced it made the shifts better yet. As the TSB indicates the Transmission needs to relearn your driving style so I think its doing just that. I read somewhere that this isn't a instant fix as some have suggested the noise calms down over time as it relearns. Time will tell. Its going in for sun roof mounts to fix the a creaking issue and I'll mention it to them then if its still doing it.

Default Last Update For A While

After having an engineer at Ford look at my truck Ford has determined there is nothing they can do for me at this time. They offered me an extended warranty and told me to contact them if there were any further issues. Obviously, this is not an acceptable outcome. I wish you all the best getting this straightened out, I tried my very best to work things out through the dealers and Ford. I was always polite and respectful as they told me nothing was wrong. It is out of my hands now and hopefully in the hands of someone more capable than I to come to a resolution. If I never buy a ford again it won’t be because I think they make a subpar truck, quite the contrary I think they make an excellent product of which a small sample are effected which is to be expected. The treatement I’ve gotten is what willl turn me away. Just because someone is smiling at you and seems helpful doesn’t mean they actually care about your issue at all.

Cheers!

Then that is the official answer from Ford. Unfortunately it's much more than a small sample. Ford is not going to take responsibility for their bad designs.

Im impressed you got the engineer to come out and the extra warranty. Good job at least on that!

How long is the extended warranty and how did you get them to give it to you?

and what are you going to do... keep the truck or get rid of it and when?

They offered the warranty up on their own. I’m not sure what’ll happen from here, I kinda need a break from it. It’s weird how stressful an issue like this can end up being.

I think the commanded action of the cam phasers is too much for the chain system.... nothing really wrong with any one part. A more robust tensioner setup could help or less aggressive phaser commands. Just what I think at the moment. Someone is going to have to figure it out eventually too many trucks doing it.

You nailed it. Borg Warner, the programming, the emissions requirements, the oil pump design all not on the same page. Zero system integration on the new motors. Ford's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I hope 5.0 and 3.5 the chief engineer has been let go. Incompetence to the point of negligence.

What is most disturbing though is Ford not taking responsibility and fixing it.

Like they just threw a bunch of parts together and said what could go wrong? Seems like an amature mistake. Not something I would have expected out of the gate from Ford... sure I expect problems but not something like this.
