I had the similar noises on my 2018 5.0 4x4 as most of you. I could really hear it when I backed out of the garage and in the drive-thru lane(against the wall). even idling it sounded sloppy. I hit about 6k miles and it all went away. She really sounds great and purrs like a kitten. I did the normal break-in routine(vary my speed and get on it a bit when she was warmed up). I used the normal motorcraft semi-synthetic and have only changed it at 1500 miles(break in change) and about ready for my second oil change.. I am going to wait until around 50k miles to use full synthetic(mobil 1) like I have done on all my other trucks. 145k on my 2013 until it was totaled and never a problem(10w20 mobil 1 at 80k).

Update 3: (copied from build thread)

Just got off the phone with the dealership again.
Service rep mentioned that they were not happy to do only the TSB-18-2354, continued to change the driver's hub actuator. Told the rep again to let the truck sit out in the cold for some time and re-test in a few hours. Im not thrilled with the fact that they keep changing parts on my truck as it sits just over 10K km, but trust the hands working on my truck **at this dealership**. They've had our business for dozens of trucks and always treated me well. Hoping for the best when I go in later today to pick up, and return this horrible, horrible Edge.

Heard from my regional customer service rep. She was nice enough but said my request for buyback was denied under Virginia laws (?) -- she tried claiming that Ford needed to try and actually repair the vehicle before any other options could be considered. I asked her to speak to the dealership service manager where I just had the truck, as I was told there was no point in throwing parts at it and Ford may not pay out, given it's a defective part design from the get-go.

She said she'd call and speak to the service manager but until she has that conversation, can't speculate on further next steps. I told her that I was happy to either entertain a buyback, or to have them simply terminate my lease. We are supposed to speak again on Wednesday, so we'll see what she can do in that time.

Interested in what the outcome is. Mine is a lease as well but had a 16k downpayment on it from trade. Worried that they will de-value my lease when it's up.

Update 4: (copied from build thread)

After starting the truck at the dealer last night, discovered the deceleration rattle was still present. Hub actuator clearly was not the perp. Truck was clearly re-flashed as the shifting strategies are all messed up again. Took the tech for a spin around the lot and showed the rattle sound which was not hard to produce. Decided to take the truck home regardless but they are expecting me back again on Monday. Debating whether or not to bring it in, I'm sure they'll throw parts at it but I don't want to sacrifice my truck to be the guinea pig.

The plus side is that the engine idle *chirp* is still gone.

I love how they change out hub actuators when there is clearly noise coming from the engine. It just goes to show you how incompetent Fords service management is. Any numb skull could tell you the noise isn't coming from the hubs. But the service departments just act like robots and do whatever Ford pukes out at them with no question I guess.

Was wondering who has had the timing chain and phasers replaced with sucess...I know from what I have seen this is not a good fix for most...my dealer said this is the next step...the service adviser even said they revised the original TSB to add this procedure if the rattle returns after reflash...not sure I am ready to have my new motor torn apart for a repair that’s not working.

Yeah, I'd be interested to see if the TSB has in fact been updated. Can anyone confirm?
