2018 5.0 shift rpm limit
I've seen a bunch of videos where the supercharged truck guys are revving their 5.0s to like 7000 on what appears to be the stock valvetrain. Does anyone have insight into what the safe RPM limit is on these engines? I've been spoiled to having a ton of information available about LS engines over on performance trucks . net, but not as many people are modifying the truck engines like that group has been.
Can anyone provide detailed engine specs like cam specs, etc on the truck 5.0 vs mustang 5.0? Or point me to a resource so I can do some research...thanks!

I would like to know this too, specifically the mustang vs truck motor differences. I used to be big into GM motors and there is detailed info on the LS motors and the 3800, I was hoping for some detailed info on the Coyote.

Different intake manifold, camshafts, exhaust manifolds, oil pump, balancer, and calibration, probably more. That said, I think the differences aren’t that major. A tune and intake manifold seems to make the difference almost disappear. The factory truck tune limits the max power, while the mustang does not. At least in prior coyotes, the truck actually had stiffer valvesprings than the car.
Some mustangs are making over 15 psi boost over 8000 rpm making over 1000 rwhp on stock engines with something like 60 lb valvesprings seat pressure. The rules for ohc are very different than pushrod.

On another note, I ran across a youtube post by american truck referencing an SCT tune on a 5.0 with gains of over 50HP. I'm guessing the 2018 motors are extremely conservative from the factory? Just seems crazy for a gas engine! SCT BDX Tuner

Have you noticed any loss of torque down low? Does the truck downshift more frequently when climbing overpasses, etc? What would you say the pros and cons are of the swap?
