Just ordered this yesterday and it shipped today. If it gets here in time, I'll change the oil this weekend for the first time. I'l let you know how it works!

Yeah, I got my Ronin plug a few weeks ago. It’s sitting in my tool box waiting for my next oil change. Seems like really nice quality.

Same here got mine as well. It does seem very well built and designed. I only have 1200 miles, so not quite ready for it yet.

I have a 2016 5.0L with a Fumoto valve. No mess from the oil drain. But I use foil under and around the filter as I remove it to avoid spilling oil all over the skid plate.

I don't know what challenges you're facing with the plastic pan and the drain plug, but I've used that technique on lots of vehicles.
This works well. I on the other hand have been using ziplock bags around the filters for years, not just on my current vehicle. seems to catch 98% or more of the oil.
I have not seen the challenges with the plastic pans, but I, like you, feel our methods could work on many designs.

there is a company making easy oil drain plugs for the plastic pans, which are similar in concept to the Fumoto…. there was a thread on one just a day or two ago. I think the valve was $70.00, so its worth is subject to opinion.

I saved an old 5 quart jug. Lay it on it's side, cut approximately 1 inch slice off the bottom half of the jug so it will slide under the filter, creating a homemade pan if you will. This leaves the handle and cap on other end. Loosen the filter first, then slide the jug under the filter, then you can remove the filter into the jug and slide everything out together. It will catch 99% of oil. I'm new here, but if anyone wants pics, I'll try to give it a whirl.

Remove the plug first, do not remove oil filter or fill cap, so oil drains out slower.
