If mine made that noise I'd be pissed and if the dealer says it's normal, I'd find a new dealer.
Mine is quiet but uses a little oil.

My dealer has 2 new 5.0’s torn down in his shop. He says there’s a problem at the factory and they’re trying to figure it out. This was 2 weeks ago. Just FYI...FWIW.

That isn't normal. I would be getting Ford to buy it back. There is an issue there. After the leaf spring clunking, the warped dash, glove box shelve issue. I would be done with the truck if mine sounded like that.

She gone.

I believe it's an oiling problem.

So it's been three days since they installed the parts and so far the noise is gone..... let's hope it stays that way. I've attached the parts list above for your info.... I'll let you know if the noise comes back.

I started putting mixed or premuim gas in my 5.0 and it is much quieter. However my screen went out yesterday (did not come on, ~5 minute drive).

Yay!

I have seen many 5.0's with this issue and I finally found the cause!! BUT a new intake manifold did not fix it. Have a clunk on accel and decel especially under higher torque load? Try this

Watch this at 11 seconds. You will hear it.. now imagine it under full vac..

I unplugged this and test drove.. Clunk GONE. Check engine light comes on but clunk gone. I plugged it back in off course. Dash light turned off in drive or two.. clunk returned of course.

That just disables the IMRC, which are the flaps that make a racket.

I'm aware. I'm also aware that this noise was generated by Ford updating the module from other TSB's. No clunk... reflash for TSB.. clunk. Verified it on a different truck the other day. Went in with no clunk. PCM updated.. Now it clunks.

This is what I want to know. How in the world can this be remedied..?
I'm still blown away that once you finally found the source it didn't gain any traction.

ford has has truck 24 days.. they verified it today.. "the new update caused this noise. Ford has determined this is normal. Please come pick up your truck"
I said "Wait a minute. I buy a nice quiet truck. It starts to rattle. You guys flash it to fix it. Now it still rattles AND clunks.. you tell me all this is normal and come pick it up??"

Persuing lemon law now.

My first Ford. If I have to keep it.. I will redesign the intake vac control to have a cushion OR I will get a non clunking truck, copy the module, and put the program on my truck.
