To me that sounds like your lifters could be shot. That's what's going on with mine...and most likely due to oil starvation because of a faulty pump/oil pressure control solenoid. Mine has progressed to be much worse now. Do you notice any knocking (like a fast tapping) at 2K-3K RPM in 1st/2nd gear. If you brake torque it slightly (800-1000 RPM) while in drive and warmed up, does the knock get heavier? If so it's most likely progressed to a bottom end issue. At least with mine it started with a top end lubrication issue and has started to spread...my oil pressure randomly goes in and out of specifications.
I don't really notice it getting louder with increase in RPM. Most likely because of my loud ***** exhaust. I'll try a few things tomorrow when I get up and around.

Sooo, I just noticed mine doing pretty much the same thing. Seems to do it after everything is warmed up and at idle and I can also hear it in my cab. Really wondering if this is knock or Direct Injection. Does anyone have a 2018 5.0 that doesnt do this at idle when warm?

I’d be much more likely to deem this ‘normal’ had it done it the day I got it. I’m already planning on the dealer chalking it up as normal.

i agree, i am just blown away by how many posts and videos there are about these issue on the gen3 5.0. The mustangs seem to have the same issues.

Yeah, this is my first Ford and I have to say I'm not overly impressed with the powertrain build quality. This truck is full of strange noises under the hood.... like the turbocharger sounding whistle, the low rpm accelerate / decelerate rattle, the knock, and then I occasionally have a strange high pitched hum / whistle after the truck has been shut off for a few mins. What's most concerning to me is that Ford just doesn't have answers to these problems. Depending on how things go over the next 20k miles or so, I may very well move on to something different. Sucks because I like these trucks and love my lead foot gray color.

My 2018 5.0 has the hot idle knock,
I noticed it at about 200 miles. Two different dealers said this is normal, I thought otherwise.
I read online that some people said this was the high pressure fuel pump for the direct injection.
I thought this was crap however, after poking around the engine with an automotive stethoscope I believe it.
The knocking noise can be heard faintly when I scope just about anywhere on the engine but,
scope the top of the h.p.f.p. and there is the damn noise! (the pump is on top of the passenger side valve cover and is insulated with a thick piece of foam, pull this off to scope it)

Many people have said direct injectors don't sound like this, but keep in mind this is the injection pump not the injectors(cool side note, sometimes I can actually hear the engine switch from direct to port injection at idle, it's all in the sound of port vs direct injectors),
people have also said that the h.p.f.p. shouldn't sound like this and I agree. BUT I can hear that,on my engine anyway, it IS the pump and that makes me feel better.
Since the pump is driven off one of the cams I suppose that their could be some issue there ,but I don't see why the only bad lobe would be the one driving the pump.

And it is telling that with all the damn noises these trucks make, Ford covered the pump with a thick piece of sound deadening
Neither dealer that I took the truck to said anything about the h.p.f.p. making noise, they just said '' sounds perfectly normal ''.
They probably neither one had any clue what was making the noise, anyway.

Anyway, to the O.P. ,
just thought I would share that and I am curious to hear what your dealer will say.
In my case, they didn't even really acknowledge the knock, they just listened to it in a noisy shop and said '' everything's fine ''
like dealers almost always do.
