Ford can't turn it off because that would require them to re-certify the trucks with the EPA and would result in a lower window sticker fuel econ. This lowers CAFE and costs $$$.
Go into forscan and disable it:

So what is the verdict. I would love to make the *** problem go away. Did it effect your backup camera? I tried the jumper fix, but the wire kept coming out. I am about to splice a wire into both the wires behind the switch.
To those that keep coming on here and saying " I see no problem with it". Hey, great for you, now don't let the door of this thread hit you in the **** on the way out. We hate it, we want it gone. Nothing you will say will convince me that starting my truck more times in one day, than I normally do in a month, is good for my truck.

In 2020 you won't have to worry about the switch because their won't be one. It's a Government Mandate and you won't be able to disable just by pushing the button.
PS You will have to plug the module back in if you want trailer lights.

It's not necessarily the physical action of pushing the button...it's knowing that every time you get in the truck you will have to push the dumb button...forever. It was engineered backwards. It should be an option that you have to push a button TO activate, no deactivate. That is stupid. I've only had my new 2018 a couple of weeks now, but already I've found myself several times at a stoplight starting to sweat and realizing that the engine shut off a little while ago and the A/C basically shut off as well. It would be nice if Ford offered something to reverse the switch. I'd pay extra to have that dumb *** system permanently deactivated. I really don't see me EVER using it.

Have been a fan of *** on the many cars I have rented with it. Definitely disabling on my 18 5.0. It's the worst *** I have ever seen by a pretty wide margin. I need TBC so sounds like switch rewire is the way to go.
Has anyone worked out a plug and play that (goes in the switch wiring) and reverses the *** switch function? I'm not much for electronics, but seems like one of the smart guys around here could add something that hits the switch at each startup but keeps it functional. Looks like a money making opportunity for the right guy. I'd pay $100 for one.
EDIT: Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Could I add a SPST micro switch inline with the wire mentioned by the OP and only turn it on when towing? I could live with *** functioning only when towing. Would there be any other repercussions to adding a switch to this wire?
