You need to drive it more to let it learn your driving since a couple weeks won't do it. If it still feels like that after a few thousand miles, I would have the dealer look at it again. I know that's not exactly the answer your looking for, but there are several happy people on here with the 10spd, myself included.

I've had the truck for 3 months. It's tricky. I wanted to get out ahead of it while it's still "new", and be on record with my concerns (if nothing else). I don't put on a lot of KM's, but I don't want to wait for some abstract point in the future to enjoy driving my 67k (Canadian) truck. I do recognize that it could be a contributing factor.

I kind of doubt that the downshifting thing is part of the "learning" process, though. I don't really know how it works, but it's not really getting any input when I'm braking, is it? I do think the annoyances with acceleration could improve with time. I actually think it's already improved somewhat. Still weird, but perhaps less often.

Did your truck ever “learn”? I have the same issue of the downshifting with my 19 5.0

It did not. Ford actually even put in another transmission, and it was maybe a little better -- but it was doing the same thing. Throughout my truck's numerous times in the shop, I had several rental F150's that all behaved similarly (to varying degrees). Ultimately, I think that's just how they are.

Well I just lost hope! Sucks to hear that. I hate feeling the downshifts coming to a light. Feels like I press harder when it downshifts to third but I’ve gotten used to it and come off the break a little to even it out. Hoping to get it tuned soon and maybe it’ll help out.

My 2018 3.5 eco-boost 4x4 3.55 rear and 10 speed is a joy to drive. Unless I am going down hill in tow haul mode...

When I am actually towing my camper the down shifts ONLY GOING DOWNHILL will throw you though the window.
Here is what happens: You start down a long hill and take your foot off the gas. As long as you don't hit the brakes it downshifts normally.
First time you hit the brakes it immediately downshifts once, but not aggressively.
The SECOND time you hit the breaks it again downshifts immediately, then seems to go into some kind of different mode and all the downshifts after that become severe.
It's so bad that I just take it out of tow haul mode going down hill and shift the tranny manually to aid in control of my downhill speed.
I have not mentioned this to my dealer since I have only had the truck in once for the door lock issue. I do my own oil changes...

Though this won't fix your issue, try ECO mode, you won't even know the tranny is shifting. Since my wife commutes in it, I tell her to put it in ECO mode and she has never complained about the tranny shifting.

Welcome to the 10 speed, though not necessarily the trans, it's the crappy Ford programming. Hence your same issues even with new trans. My '19 Platinum had same exact issues including that bumping shifts coming to a stop like a manual trans car in wrong gear with engine braking making stopping awkward. Tsbs didn't help. Friends trucks including neighbors exactly the same for the 10 speed. And same for rentals travelling and loaners. I had a 10 speed Explorer rental as well that was the same and had an even worse 3 to 5 shift that would legit lunge in city making you come out of your seat 80% of the time. Have no clue where people are like these trans are smooth and fine, have yet to be in a Ford 10 speed that was fine minus super duty, even our 10 speed Stang 5.0 was clunky and wonky but amazing tuned. GMs programming is why even in comparos pointed out how much better it is. Buddy even has a 3.5 Expedition and wife had a Denali suv 10 speed, Denali buttery smooth, Expedition clunk clunk clunk. 4 new GM 10 speed trucks on my street and flawless, while us Ford guys (minus me being tuned) are clunks and wonks including neighbors 21 which was ok at first now couple thousand miles later just as clunk as the '18 he traded.

Only fix was custom tuning, night and day different. Rips through gears like sport mode but smooth, I haven't had one single clunk, issue, gear holding or hiccup since tuning a year ago, even out of state in cold weather the cold start clunk is basically gone. Vs having a $70k stock truck that drove like a drunk engineer programmed it. Proof it's the tuning not the trans itself. Even PBD that did my truck called the Ford programming complete garbage across all models of the 10 speed.

One of our fam friends is one of the kargest electrical contractors in the state with a huge fleet. Never has he had complaints from workers about the shifting issues untill he started getting 10 speed F150s in the fleet, both Coyotes and 3.5 models including max tows. Super Dutys in the fleet are fine, and even owners I know that went from 10 speed F150 to F250/350 don't know why the trans is so much better in that truck whether behind the Godzilla or Powerstroke.

Absolutely amazing tuned though, night and day better. Stock that trans damn near ruined truck for me.

Edit - in our racing club, one of the guys dailys an Explorer ST that had similar complaints with the 10 speed being herky jerky, tuned now as well and far better.

Local shop, PBD, they and others do remote tuning though. I just prefer dyno and street logged, that will always be best.

The 10 speed sucks for ride quality there isn't much more you can say about it.
