Summer I get 20.2 on the trucks computer at best which is 19.3 hand calculated.

The last two months the computer has been showing 18.8. Hand calculated its 17.9

Window sticker says it will get 23 hwy. Did one 500 mile trip in Sept, kept cruise at 65. Passed by everybody on the hwy. Computer showed 20.9, hand calculated to 19.9.

This truck is farther off the claimed hwy MPG of any vehicle I have ever owned. Most every thing else I have owned in the last 15 years would get claimed mpg at 70 mph.

This upsets me, as the claimed mpg is part of why I chose to go with this truck. I know 3 mpg is not huge but adds up at 20K miles a year.
My truck is very similar (157", FX4, 3.5EB, 3.55, 20's) and I'm getting similar mileage as you. So, your numbers sound right. My sticker also shows 17 city and 23 hwy. My best tank EVER was 20.003 mpg, hand calculated. That was driving around Oklahoma where they have lots of 65 mph highways.

I'm just letting you know that your numbers are realistic and probably about as good as you'll get, because I'm getting the same ones.

I have a 2017 Ford F150 Platinum 3.5L Ecoboost FX4 with ~11,000 miles, 10 speed, 3.55 diff, leveling kit, and nitto ridge grappler 295/60r20s that weigh about 65lbs each.
The truck is rated 17city/22hwy/20 combined. And whats the setup for the Ford fuel economy ratings?
I've had my 2017 since May and have noticed/gotten used to a few quirks. Its not scientific by any means but I've noticed better fuel mileage through ha few things. First, my route is probably 80/20 for hwy/city. Higher octane gets better mileage by 1+/- mpg. Winter gas has cost me 1.5-2.5 mpg. Hwy driving above 70 mph nets me a 1-2 mpg loss. For reference the () is hand calculated. A round trip drive of 700 miles that was 99% hwy got me 25.2 mpg(24.5) in July. Auto Start/Stop makes no sense 99% of the time for me so not a noticeable difference. I averaged 19.2(18.4) mpg in the summer and 17.8(16.9) mpg winter. Stock 17 3.5 10 speed 157" with bakflip on stock wheel/tires.

X3......I'm getting similar mileage also (3.5Eco 4x4 157" screw, 3.31 gears). My best was 20.8 on a slow highway trip and get 17-18 regularly in town, hand-calc. I don't know how you would get better than that as I'm doing everything I can to conserve fuel. Obviously Ford is full of crap with their sticker numbers but I'm happy it's much better than my old 5.4 screw.

So what can we expect for real life and best possible mileage in MPG and Litres/100km. I'm in Canada so does the winter have worse mileage then the spring and summer?

Real life? 17mpg. Sometimes it'll be lower (13ish) and sometimes you'll do excellent (21mpg). Some months (summer) will be higher, some will be lower.

Sort by engine type and year. Their averages are very representative of what you'll be able to achieve on general day to day driving (outliers aside).

I bought a car that was rated 21/31/24 (city/hwy/comb) and on that website for the same year and engine the drivers reported an average of 24.4mpg. I get within 5% of that on my lifetime average.

Yes, there are folks who report numbers after towing or with extreme tires/lifts. And there are others who do only highway driving. The real average is very close to all you should expect.

My 10 minute remote start in the morning costs me 10% in fuel economy numbers. I'm sure on larger motors it could be closer to 15%.

So that would equate to 13.8 liters per 100km. I would be very happy if I got that. My truck is at 18 liters per 100km. There has to be something I can do with dealership or Ford itself.

Thanks in Advance,

Cole

Well said. Mirrors exactly what I have been thru. Almost every detail. But..
I did a 2.5 in level back in November and thought that was most of the culprit. Went ahead and put the rear blocks in in December because I was afraid no rake was killing mileage. I’ll find out next summer.

Or...are upset you're not getting window sticker mpg ratings?

Its been said before and I'll say it again, if you're worried about mpg, dont buy a full sized supercrew 4x4 truck...

I can get good mpg with my truck with a moderate lift and P rated AT tires. Most times I dont cuz I drive it like I do!
My Truck is 100% stock. Not lifted, not bigger tires. I am talking mpg on an empty truck, no cargo. I cant even get with in 3 mpg of rating when driving 65 mph, which is under the speed limit

So yes, I am very upset I can not get close to window sticker ratings. There is a reason window sticker ratings are there, so a consumer can make an educated decision.

I have had full size 4x4 trucks since 1982. My last GMC got the Rated MPG at 70 mph on the interstate, sad thing is it was a 6.0 liter V-8, got 19 mpg, in a crew cab 4x4. GM window sticker claimed 19 mpg.

This truck claims 23 and gets 19 with a V6 and a ten speed trans.

I went with the Ford in part because of the Better MPG. The GM for 2017 with the 6.0 claims 22 hwy.

This is the only Vehicle I have not been able to get with in 1 mpg of the hwy rated MPG at the speed limit, the counts 4x4 trucks, 4X4 SUV's and cars. Heck my wifes 4x4 Range Rover I usually get 1 mpg over the hwy rating.

My 14 Stingray, at 80 mph I get 2 over the Hwy rating.

I would be happy if I could get close to the hwy rating in my truck at the speed limit. Not to much to expect to get what the Manufacture says it will get.

I know they are realistic numbers. My point is, Ford Clearly states it will get 23 mpg hwy. That is an out an out lie. I have kept it at 65 mph for 500 miles, with 93 octane and barley got 20 mpg.

The MPG claim is part of why I went Ford vice GMC Denali. My last two GMC with 6.0 V8 motors, 4x4 crew cabs got what GMC claimed for hwy MPG. So if it held true for 2017, the Denali I was looking at would get 2 mpg better than this truck with a motor almost twice the size and a 6 speed transmission. My old GMC got 1 mpg less then my new F-150, but was rated for 4 less mpg then the new truck.

I too try to conserve fuel. Ford should have to back up their claims or put a more accurate number on the window sticker. Hwy mpg on the window sticker should be 19 mpg.

EPA ratings are not real life ratings and are not calculated the same way. Do your research.

https://www.epa.gov/fueleconomy/basi...onomy-labeling

Best MPG I had with my 2017 3.5EB SuperCrew 157'' wheelbase 4x4 with 20'' wheels and A/T tires was 20.5 (90% highway). Pretty sure it can do 23-24 on highway, but that would be 99% highway driving - the 1% remaining would be a quick exit to a truck stop and a fuelup.

Best way to conserve fuel is to not hear that turbo spooling.
