People normally don't complain when they don't have issues. How many times have you gone out of your way to notify the manager when you are served as you expect at a restaurant? Or when you bought your TV, did you contact the manufacture to tell them it was working as expected? Or have you contacted the papermaker of your toilet paper to tell them it's an outstanding product?
People complain when they have issues. It's human nature. Don't make assumptions since the vast majority of F-150 owners aren't on this forum complaining they are having problems.
Some people nitpick and scream into a loudspeaker, some people have real issues, go into their dealer and problem is resolved, and some people will complain about the new, golden rope as it's put around their neck just before they open the trapdoor and hang them.
I'm not saying people complaining here don't have real issues, but don't assume this echo chamber represents the majority of F-150 owners.
There is great information in this forum from the experience of owners, but there is also complaints from owners who will never have that perfect vehicle they spent their money on and who will complaint until they either trade in the vehicle (for a newer F-150) or are no longer driving. And if you ever find that perfect truck, make sure you contact Ford to tell them. Oh yeah, don't forget to let us all know.
I would not worry as there are millions out there and this is just one forum of few 1000 people complaining, TONS of people out there with NO issues at all. /QUOTE]
You have it exactly backwards. This forum represent an infinitesimally small sampling of owners (most don't even know it exists) and that there are this many problems listed here indicates a very large issue across the wider world of owners.

That may be true but I'd bet 70% + of people who own F150's are not a part of any forum. Of the 7 people I know who have F150's not one of them frequent any forums at all.
My coworker is taking his 2016 5.0 with the 6 speed in for a look due to some funny shifting.
Some people are just more excited about their trucks and join these types of forums or they are actually looking for info.
It's impossible to gauge the depth of any Ford issues from a website like this.

True. If every owner with a 10-speed checked in for every day their transmission ran perfect, all other issue posts would be buried and not even noticeable. FYI - 10-speed owner checking in. 6,000 miles, no issues today. I'll check in again tomorrow to let everyone know how great it's been!

Not trying to turn this into one of those tit for tat threads, but I was actually surprised how "honest" (using the term loosely) the dealers were about the long term issues with the ecoboost and the troublesome launch of the 10 speed. The first 2 they sold came back on flatbeds.

Appreciate your feedback on the 10 speed, it's nice to hear some good news, although I ran far away from it since even the dealers are talking about its shifting, hunting, and programming issues..

94.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot. It's the #1 selling vehicle of all time in America - this forum's membership is in the round off error of the number of people that own the truck. What is "not made up" is that people don't generally jump online and seek out a forum to report how trouble free their whachamacallit is. Which is fine, it's still helpful to know what to watch out for on our trucks.
My 10 speed 3.5eb has been pretty close to flawless. Now, the build quality and the fit/finish is something Ford needs to work on but everything about this truck is working for me.

But yeah, the Ford/Gm collaborative 10 speed 9 speed program sounds like it's still ironing out some wrinkles. Results may vary from what I'm gathering. I'm not a die hard fan boy that sees a Ford stamp and mindlessly drools, but I do applaud the effort.. I guess we all still need to see how this one pans out..

Why I waited till now to order 18 model, well plus I really like the new frontend and extra power on the eco over my 15 model.
My 15 has been flawless and love the eco motor. I was hoping they would have worked on their fit and finish and got it up to very high levels but sounds like the fit part needs more work. My finish however was flawless on my 15, excellent paint job!

I bought my 2017 F-150 with 3.5EB and 10 speed on July 6th. A few days later, I noticed a high pitched whine while idling in park, revving VERY slightly in park, and while driving (most noticeable in a fast food drive through). I took it in to have it looked at, as I was also feeling a vibration at highway speeds. The tech said the vibration was out of balance wheels, but he couldn't quite figure out what the whine was. After talking to the hotline, the truck was sent to the dealer's transmission shop. This was on Thursday of last week, and I'm still waiting to hear from the dealer again. I've had no issues with the trans otherwise besides a slip in the first 3-4 upshift after sitting for 7+ hours. Other than that, it's been great. I really enjoy this truck and I hope the dealer gets it back to me quickly, whine free. I was a little worried about buying a truck with a new, unproven transmission.
