I've had 3 Ecoboosts and really liked all of them, when I downgraded out of my 17 and my car payment and got an '11 it happened to have the 5.0 and it's alright. I don't love it. It makes alright power and gets alright fuel economy.
My work truck is a 2018 XLT 5.0/10 speed/3.55 and I'm in love. So smooth and quiet when you don't want to hear it, but really sings when you do. Love the natural predictable feel of the way the power comes on. Averaging awesome mileage as well. I buy what I think feels better and my next personal truck will be a 2018+ with the 5.0. Nothing against the Eco, I think it's awesome and have no reservations about it. Loved my 17 3.5/10 speed, but I like the feel of the 8 better in the 2018 trucks.
2017 XLT 5.0 FX4, loving this truck soooo much I came from an 2004 FX4 never had any trouble with it but was so tired of worrying about the cam phaser issues I decided to pull the trigger. I went with the 17 because I didn't want that auto start stop, didn't want to be a guinea pig for the 10 speed transmission. I like the 5.0 has more power than my old truck. Am having so much fun with this truck, I mean am 44 years old this is the first truck I have ever bought after market rims and such on a brand new truck. I can't wait to get an exhaust on it. These trucks are so much different compared to my old one.

I recently traded in my 2011 Supercrew FX4 with a 5.0 and upgraded to this 2017...I absolutely love this truck and the 5.0...dealer tried talking me into the ecoboost and I told him as I have told them before that I was worried about gas mileage I'd buy a car...my trucks have never been daily drivers though
Wait...there are other engine options for the F-150 besides the 5.0???
Just kidding... While I think all the technology in the Ecoboost engines is pretty cool, I just love a good V8. The Coyote just checks all the boxes for me and puts a big smile on my face when it howls.
2017 XL, Race Red, RCSB, FX4, 5.0 for me.
