I would want them to grab the parts off a truck on the lot. Then the dealership can wait for the part to sell the new truck. I know that is not realistic, but it would make feel better.

Didn't the OP say the parts are for one time use? Taking parts off a different truck wouldn't help if that's the case. I wouldn't want "used" parts put on my brand new truck anyways, but I guess I also wouldn't want it sitting at the dealer for longer than I had owned it either.

I know a guy who had a similar issue with a fuel pump on the new Escape. I think the dealer had it for about a month because all of the updated pumps were being sent to the line for production. I guess they figure yours is less important than a new one since they already have your money.

Bad situations like this are an opportunity to shine. Years ago when Lexus first came out my friend's dad bought one. He had a problem but the closest dealer was almost 100 miles away. They came to his home with a car identical to his on a flat bed and took his back to get repaired. When it was fixed they returned his car on a flat bed and picked up the loaner. They detailed his car and left a Lexus hat on the driver's seat along with a note thanking him for his business and apologizing for any inconvenience. Almost 25 years later he still only drives Lexus vehicles.

I was really hoping that Ford would have handled this differently. My dealer has been great, and provided a loaner vehicle. The Ford Canada rep assigned to the case doesn't seem to care. She is just waiting for the dealership to give her an update, then pass that update along to me.

Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks the truck has been in the shop. As of this Friday, the truck will have been in the shop as long as I was driving it.

Being a holiday in the US today, I doubt anyone has an update. Hopefully some good news will come mid week. If not, I'll be starting a CAMVAP application for a buy-back and pursuing any other options available.

Happy 4th to our southern neighbours!

Considering it has the new dual injection system Ford should send one of the engineers on this engine's design team to check it out.

Send a certified letter to the main address asking them to repair and return your truck within 15 days of the date of the letter. Also state that they should advise you if your truck will not be repaired in the above time frame.
They will speed thing up once they received your letter, at least they did in my case.

Another update:

July 4th I filed a BBB complaint, and left a message on Ford Canada's Facebook wall. Suddenly I got some attention on July 5th and 6th from Ford Canada. Somehow the parts went from being back ordered with no ETA, to the truck being ready for pickup on July 7th.

When I picked up the truck, the dealer also ended up having to change the PCM. They couldn't get a new one in time, so ended up robbing one from a new truck on the lot. The truck was finally back in running condition!

A couple days later, I noticed the check engine light was flashing before the engine was started. Once it was running, the light went out. Took it by the dealership and they found it was giving a 'mis-configuration' code. The tech that needed to look at it was on holidays though.

Dropped the truck off at the dealership earlier today. They are going to re-flash the PCM, which should clear up the issues.

Once the dust has settled, Ford Canada indicated they will offer up something for the supreme hassle.... Time will tell

Finally heard from Ford Canada on their 'goodwill gesture'. Either 1 year of additional engine only warranty, or $500 toward Ford accessories.

With these early onset issues, there's no way I'll keep this truck longer than 5 years. So the extra engine warranty is useless. Don't really need any Ford accessories either. Pushed for extra bumper to bumper coverage, but they wouldn't budge. Only insisted how 'sorry' they were, and that they want to make it right.

Bottom line, I'm terribly disappointed how Ford handled this issue. It shouldn't take a BBB complaint, and a bad reviews on Facebook to get a truck fixed. At least this experience will make the decision easier on what to purchase next.
