I don't know much about transmission ratios so with the spread the new 10 speed will have am I correct in thinking it would be better to go with a 3.55 rear as opposed to the 3.31?

The 5.0 is a great engine if you like that old school V8 knock. The 3.5 is a great engine if you like cold start screeching.

The 6.2 had terrible everyday mpg compared to the 3.5tt.

If you want to compare the 2.7,5.0,3.5 as grocery getters and always empty I suppose you could.

But why not compare them as they were intended?

1. 3.5 They can either barely afford an f150 or They only have a truck for (name your reason). But 0 work.
2. 2.7 tows what most want, either likes tech or doesn't hurt, and really amazing mpg, and power for a truck.
3. 5.0 Old timers "have to have a v8 don't trust those snails only v8s last bla bla bla.
4. 3.5tt truly amazing towing extremely leisurely towing unlike the v8 screaming to tow it's maximum. Plus when you've got 2k in the bed and your trying to climb a hill you you really want to lay into the throttle? The 3.5 will climb that hill at 2500 rpm with the full 420 soon to be 470tq.

I owned a crew 4x4 2002 with the 5.4. Loved to scream while towing. Absolutely wore me out.
1. For some people, the 3.5NA is plenty of engine, it is more powerful than just about anything that was available in a half ton truck 20 years ago.
2. Praise for an Ecoboost
3. ****ting on those who chose a 5.0
4. Praise for an Ecoboost.

Maybe you don't see it but that post is how a lot of your posts come across. My reading comprehension is fine, maybe your delivery is what needs work if you are failing to properly communicate what you mean.

I loved the 5.4L 4v mod in my Mustang. Man, I still have dirty thoughts about how that engine sounded with long tube headers, no cats and an xpipe. Dirty, dirty thoughts.

Why all the 5.0 v Eco.... Again.

For 17 the new Eco power plus 10 speed will make it an obvious choice for anyone who wants the most power with some efficiency. However it would be interesting to see how other f150 engines would respond to the 10 speed. But we won't know until after '17.

I'm one of those weird people who actually wanted the 6 speed over the 10. I started to wait and get a 2017 but ended up finding the truck I wanted that was a 16 so jumped on it. Transmissions usually take a couple years to get the kinks worked out and I wasn't willing to wait that long.

Why not? That's like saying if they need eco mode to achieve epa mileage then they won't include sport mode as well...

I have a 5.0 and wish I would've gotten the Eco. I love the power it puts out when I am revving the engine I just don't like the feeling of bogging down going up hills. I like pushing the pedal and accelerating in that gear vs dropping down 2 gears. Throttle response is vital in driving satisfaction for me. Since this is my first truck you learn stuff along the way but my next vehicle will be a tuned diesel for sure. No if ands or buts about that. Some serious torque and acceleration to be had there!

Yeah, they won't handicap the vehicle. They make the options available so that it's possible to test it in the most economical mode, but once you buy it, you can drive it however you want.

The potential for the max economy mode just has to be available.

The one thing I would worry about with the 10 speed trans. is how much GM is
involved with it. In 45 years of driving I have had 1 new GM pickup with the
700r4 trans. 1982. The 4th trans caught fire and burned it to the ground
at less than30,000 miles.
