We hope to have tunes available on their own for the N-Gauge in the form of email tunes soon. Still working out some finer details.

We will certainly support SCT devices with custom tunes as soon as they have support for 2017 vehicles.

As johndeerefarmer touched on, HP is the only one to have cracked the PCM. We have word that sometime around July, there may be additional 2017 support. Will definitely let you guys know as soon as we get word.

Who do you think makes the best tuners? HP or SCT? Could you tell me the strengths/weaknesses of each?

I have used the SCT devices since 2011. The only advantages of using the SCT platform that I know of are:
1. It's popular and used by quite a few tuners.
2. I have had it awhile and am familiar with it.
Disadvantages:
1. It takes awhile to change tunes
2. If I make a datalog on a tune I am testing I have to either bring the laptop to the truck or the SCT X4 into the house to get the datalog off of it.
3. You can only store 10 custom tunes at a time.
4. From my experience SCT tech support is pretty sorry.

The HP Tuners nGuage:
Advantages:
1. I can store as many tunes as I want as they are stored on a MicroSD card.
2. Datalog Files are stored on the MicroSD Card so all I have to do is remove the card instead of pulling my tuner off of the windowshield and bringing it in the house.
3. Loading tunes is many times faster than SCT.

Disadvantages:
1. So far only one that I know of- I had to buy a nGuage instead of using my SCT X4.

So assuming a guy is starting fresh and doesn't have any tuners, getting the Ngauge isn't a bad idea other than it might not be as widely used as the SCT? That's good to know. Thanks for your input.

The nGuage is also used for tuning of Mustangs, Camaro's, and Powerstrokes to name a few. It appears that more may be moving to it.
I got my first tune loaded with my nGauge today and will post some pixs of what some of the screens look like on it sometime over the weekend.

I'm not familiar with tuning Gas trucks or cars, Diesel yes, and Harley yes.

I know the tuner I used on my last truck, I could put tune to stock for service at dealer.

I know with my Harley's I can load the factory tune, and it leaves no trace that it had been changed.

I know the nGage can store and load different Maps. Can it load a stock Map back if the truck needs service?

They should all be able to do that...yes.

Keep in mind they can still tell how many times it had been flashed...if you're worried about the warranty aspect(I personally wouldn't worry...but some do)

Yes you can put it back to stock.

When I got my first ecoboost in '11 I told myself I wasn't going to tune it. That didn't last long. Every truck since then has been tuned.
From my personal experience if you use a safe tune the chances of having an issue aren't any greater than having an issue from a stock truck. 5 star leaves all of Ford's safeties intact which is a good reason to run 5 star tunes.

This. Ford can tell its been tuned. If you have engine issues, the risk is the warranty claim could be denied. 12k $ is cost. If engine has issue after tune, you are gambling. Now the odds are good most wont have engine issues. The few that do, have the risk of a 12k bill.

Yup. I won't be tuning mine until there a lot more miles racked up on this forum to indentify any potential issues. Also chances are if an individual example has a defect it should show up early. I plan to put several k miles on my truck before and a couple oil analysis before tuning.
