O.P. I'm interested in the same thing, thanks for starting the thread.
ZX12 I wonder how many tuned, grenaded, and got warranty coverage but I guess we don't hear those stories...

if the tune could have caused the engine issue - you are out of luck.
plus - are you going to fight FMC for how many weeks without a vehicle to drive while your truck sits at the dealer? They'll have an engineer write up a report and then it's on you. Arbitration? Find your own engineer and get a report? Wait for weeks and weeks without a vehicle?
If you modify/ tune an engine - be prepared to pay for more repairs if the warranty is voided. The law folks refer to is designed so Ford can't void your powertrain warranty if you install an aftermarket radio etc.... = unrelated items, not causing the defect...

In most cases, running a tune wont cause engine damage that would void the warranty, but if you run a tune and abuse the engine, then yes the dealer and Ford will void it. It all depends on the dealer. If an o2 sensor fails, and causes a lean run, and sets a code, do you really thing they will blame the tune, or just replace the sensor? Situations like these would demand proof the tune cause the sensor to fail. Considering there are at least 4 O2 sensors, if one fails, most likely it was a defective part. If all 4 fail, Then it would look suspicious and they will investigate. If you grenade the engine while running a tune, well yeah, they will deny it, no doubt about that.
All I was pointing out is that for the most part running a mild tune wont cause engine damage as long as you dont abuse it. It all depends on what broke in the engine or transmission.
When in doubt talk to the service manager at your dealer and ask about tuners and tunes, you never know if the service manager might be a motorhead and has done it and seen it. A lot also depends on your relationship with the dealer.
EDIT:. I read through my 2014 warranty guide, and no mention of "tunes". However I just finished going through the guide for my new 2016 and they did add a small section, but it does not state they will void the warranty if a tune is used, but can deny a claim if the tune caused the damage.

Dropped off my 2016 F-150 213" NA at the dealer, some b***h hit me head on and the dealer gave me a new 2017 F-150 3.5 Eco, 10 speed 3.55 open rear end as a driver. Why would you need a tuner? This thing is "Murder!" I'd lose my license in no time with this setup. lol.

Can we stop beating the dead horse tune warranty thing? There are obviously people on both sides of this on this forum and then you have the people that seem to feel the need to parrot the same thing in every thready they possibly can.
look we have heard it before....we know the risk we are taking...
Id also like to see proof that someone got their warranty work denied because of a tune, that wasn't a total dip**** about it, because up to this point all I have hear are internet people parroting ." a tune will void your warranty" with no proof.
look we have heard it before....we know the risk we are taking...
