If I understand it, Livernois is proprietary, and you can only use their tunes with their tuner (they claim their proprietary device can change more parameters than others?).
N-Gauge and SCT provide tuners and tunes, but if you buy from someone like 5Star, they sell the tuner, but with their own tunes. So I could buy an n-gauge or bdx tuner and use the ones from the tuner manufacturer or buy tunes from 5star, or even other tune providers (i.e. the tuner and tunes are really separate, though if I know I want 5star tunes, buying the tuner with tunes from 5star is the most economical/simple) (right?)

The Livernois tuner+tunes changes the engine tune - but does it change the transmission? Looks like to make changes for larger tires, Livernois requires me to buy another device. Anyone have any experience with the Livernois tuner on the 2017 3.5 eco?

Buying the BDX from 5star will get me engine tuning, but not transmission tuning (at least from 5-star - is that a limitation of the tuner, or 5Star (they say no trans in the initial release, so I assume that will come later? i.e. this device is capable of tuning the trans, but 5star doesn't have that ready yet?). Does it allow me to change tire size?

The N-gauge looks like it allows tuning of engine and transmission. Does it allow changing of tire size as well? The n-gauge looks like it's meant to be mounted permanently, but I assume I can connect it, tune the truck, then remove it?)

And finally, if I tune, then change the air intake and intercooler (to something like a freak-o-boost to make room for a hidden winch), or the exhaust, etc, will that affect the tune (and do I just go back to 5star with after rereading the vehicle?)

Livernois cannot do trans on 17...yet.....they also have no device to use for their tunes ....yet. You have to send in the ECU. Then if you want back to stock you send it in again.....And the device (mycal) that was used up to 17 won't be supported on the 17's when/if they release.

Yes our tune is just the engine for now, we will be releasing the trans tune in the future, but as of now its just engine

We recently released our device for the 3.5L So we do have a device as of now just no trans tune

Okay, so let us address the elephant in the room, will all of us who bought the Mycal and tunes from you previously be requried to pay for another MyCal and tunes again? I have been an advocate for Livernois since when I got my 2015 2.7 eco tuned through you as they were great and the hook for paying more to Livernois was that it would allow you to keep getting new tunes based on mods AND you could transfer to a new vehcile. Well now I have a 17 3.5 due to now having a heavier towing need BUT if you are going to break faith, I will have to consider a non-proprietary tuner and tunes from other reputable tuners. Perhaps it is just that I am an old retired Army vet to whom keeping your word is a very big deal.

Unfortunately, that hardware will not transfer. It's not a matter of keeping our word, it's a physical impossibility for the current device to support it. If you moved to something it could, that's no problem. But, it would be like if you went and bought a GM truck, or Dodge Challenger, the current tuner wouldn't be able to support those. The new generation of PCM has forced us to do the hardware option, as the vast majority of the delay has been trying to go at it with a software approach, so this was not a decision taken lightly.

But this is why we wanted to at least be able to do something for our customers that want to move to the new unit.

Well unfortunately, that makes sense but it also pretty much makes everybody;s “lifetime” tunes a crap shoot. The good news is that now I have had to move to the 17 Gen 2 3.5 for towing reasons, short of catastrophic failure I will not be getting a new truck anytime soon!

Let me ask this, if a person has an Nguage or SCT will Livernois tunes work in it or will you still requrie the MyCal?

Does Ford (or dealers) offer any under warranty options for tuning? I Drive 25k miles a year and under warranty until 125k so I don't want to push the envelope for any warranty related issues I may run into. If there is an official route (roush or whatever options Ford used to offer) even if it costs more for less gain, I would prefer to take that route and not have to risk fighting over any warranty claims later.

I won't beat on my F150 but would love another 100hp/tq for minimal cost like a tuner would do. Also love the option of loading an Eco tune where I could pick up extra mpg at the cost of some performance for my weekly commute of 400+ miles.

I'm in the same boat with the same questions + after flashing back to factory, has anyone been called out by a dealer since the PCM "flash count" goes up every time the PCM is flashed?

Most of them sell a warranty and I know Roush does as well.
