Default 2017 3.5 Ecoboost Tuner

I did a search here and found threads on the older ecoboost, but this powertrain has changed hence a new thread. If there is a thread for this I didn't find please link it and we can end this one. Here is a tuner thread for the older trucks with some good info. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/best-tuner-3-5eb-316733/

So does anyone know if there's a tuner available for the 17' yet. Also a few questions.

Should you run your truck for a certain amount of time or mileage before adding a tuner?

This will be an interesting one.... Which tuner to buy??? HAHA

Me personally what I'm looking for is a plug and play mild tune that I can feel on the butt dyno.
I don't need a 93 tune as I can't even buy that gas here in most places only 87/89/91 octane
I don't want to change out exhaust, intake, spark plugs or thermostat if I don't have to.
I would also like a speedo calibration as I plan to change the wheels out.

I'm currently looking at this package but for the 17'

You're looking in the right place. I'm getting ready to get their tuner on my 2.7. I'd call them and ask about the '17.

Pretty sure SCT tuner will work once there are new tunes available. Mine uses 5* tunes for the 2014(now deceased) that I plan to unmarry tomorrow and whatever truck I replace it with can use to tune it with new 5* tunes. Can always check with 5* to see what their pans are for the new 3.5EB. Since I don't know what truck I will be replacing the 14 with, I wont know what tune will be needed, but this thread is fuel for thought.

I think it will be sometime before they do. They have to figure out that new 10 speed transmission first. Other than that it's easy as before.

A tuner will vood power train warranty. If you have engine failure and have or had a tune (ford can tell), then you need to buy your own engine. That being said, it may make sese to wait to make sure you have no issues before losing warranty.

They have to prove beyond a doubt the tune caused the issue before they can deny the warranty. They can make life hell doing so, but its the law.

If you get a tune, changing out the spark plugs is going to be important. The thermostat was recommended, but something that I believe most tuners can account for.
If you add 50-100 horsepower to any vehicle over what it was 'designed' for, you likely need to do something more than just update the vehicles electronics.

I strongly believe that this depends on the dealer. I had to get a new motor at 28k miles on my 13f150 and they replaced the motor all under warranty even though I was probably 110+ hp over stock

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus...s_Warranty_Act

This protects you. If you have a tune, the dealer has to have absolute proof that it caused the damage before they can deny warranty. Running a mild tune will not void your warranty, running a hot tune could though, if it advances spark too much and detonates a piston, causes overheating, melts a piston etc. then the dealer could very well say denied. They then have to provide absolute proof to deny it. If they deny, you challange them to provide the proof, and they have to show how the tune caused the damage, and I don't think many dealers have a smart enough tech who could tap into the program and determine the exact setting in the tune that did it. Most tuners provide a warranty that their tune will not cause damage that you can pay for if you want.

u are wrong. I have read the law in full and ford's warranty. A tune voids warranty on parts efdected by the tune.

sincerely,
Zx12-iowa, j.d.

Lets not derail the thread entirely. I just mention this so people know the risk and can make their choice. A dealer can help but there are many examples of ford legally denying warranty repairs due to a tune.
