i understand where you come from however we are a very small percentage of F150 owners...I do see unhappy people at work here though

My understanding of the 10R80 pump is that it's gear driven off the torque converter. So essentially, the whine is happening because the pump gears are not meshing properly. The only way to fix that is to pull the pump and replace it (and even then it probably won't fix the whine). I like how they say there are no long term durability concerns. 150K miles from now the teeth on that pump gear will be completely shot, if not sooner. Poor design.

Just in case anyone wants to know exactly what I'm talking about, here is a picture with the pump on and one with it off. Note the gear...which is connected to the input shaft. Typically, the pump is centered around the shaft...not offset.

Is there anyone lucky enough to have had the pump replaced? If so...did the noise go away?
FYI, here is a link to a YouTube video of a 10R80 teardown. At 11:18 you can see the gear that gopherman outlines in red (looks like the pics are from the same video). At 1:00:30 they disassemble the pump itself.

I am one of the sales managers... Which by the way I am at anyone's disposal for info or buying.
I traded my 2016 Ram despite no issues for the first 30k miles and nothing but grief from everyone about how it's gonna fall apart any moment. I finally gave in and said if I sell them I should drive them(even though I did buy 2 escapes already for the wife). And now my more expensive by almost $15,000 truck and I am dealing with this... Im trying hard to love it I really am.

It's a good video for anyone interested in seeing what's going on inside this transmission. And yep...I got my pics from that video...it's one of the only things I've found with an internal view of the transmission and the pump.

lol.. Our dealership is fairly small compared to your big box Ford stores so it's a bit different here. I get involved in almost all parts of the dealership. No evil stares or whispers when I am back in the shop!

agreed, ours is small here too, only about 10 techs in the shop. I couldn't work for a big box ford store

He's only from the somewhat-dim side. The dark side is the F&I office... you can tell because it's full of two-legged worms.
