2017 2.7 EB Lariat less than 14 mpg in city
I recently bought a 2017 Lariat 4WD w/ a 2.7 EB and 3.55. It has stock 18” wheels at 35psi. I absolutely love the truck, but over 3 tanks of gas, I haven’t been able to get above 14 mpg. And for the last 2 tanks, I’ve kept the fuel economy gauge up on the dash and have made a game of trying to get the best mileage. Driving as easy as possible in RWD over a 12 mile round trip daily commute in city. MPG is still in the mid 13s. Last 2 tanks have been Chevron 87 octane. I have reset the trip meters for both tanks of gas. Just over 1000 miles on the odometer. Auto start/stop on and fully functional. No remote start and no sitting idle. I even shut it off in a drive thru line this week when auto ss didn’t. Temps have been in the 50s.
I can’t drive any easier. I’m sure the mileage would be better on the highway or even a longer commute, but is there anything I should be doing to improve city mpg? I’ve researched all the posts regarding mpg and fully understand the variables involved. Still, I haven’t seen any 2.7 owners with mpg this low.
Thanks!

I dunno man. Something doesn't feel right. I get better than that when I drive like I stole it.
I'm getting honestly 21/17 without babying it. Live in WV so it's been a pretty cold winter so far.

Have you hand calculated the mpg yet? Just saying the LIE-O-METER is usually shows higher MPG but perhaps yours isn't working properly?
BTW I get considerably better then that with 2017 3.5 eco with 20" wheels and 3.31 ratio so something must be wrong IMO.

When you say city do you mean like stop and go traffic? Hard to get any decent mileage in that sort of driving.
I rarely drive in traffic, mostly 30-50 mph roads and occasional idling in a parking lot or something when waiting and the kids are cold. I average 14.5-15.2 in my 2017 5.0. When it was warm out it was more like 16-17. But if I find myself in bad traffic it goes down quickly. What I’m getting at is your numbers seem low, but it’s hard to say without knowing the type of conditions.

IMO 12.8 mpg for a 2.7 is unacceptable even driving in mostly stop and go. Don't know what to advise except to talk with your dealer. If most buyers of 2.7's eco's were getting that poor of mileage I believe there would be some serious back lash.

Some mornings can be stop and go for sections (maybe a mile or two). It is Atlanta, after all But on those same commutes there are stretches where I'm doing 35-45mph and don't have to brake until I hit a light. It isn't city block driving where there is one light after another either.
I'm curious what it will look like on a longer trip on an open interstate. If I'm getting 17-18 mpg or lower in that scenario then I should assume something is weird, right?

Fuel mileage on a cold engine is very poor with lubricants that are not yet warm in the engine and in all moving parts including wheel bearings, transmission, etc. Also, your truck has only 1000 miles so it is brand new, and everything is tight and will loosen up after some miles on the clock. See what happens with more miles and a warm engine.
