Ask to see their training certs for identifying lightning strike damage??
If it didn't go into the ground, you have no voltage potential and no damage. Assuming a lightning strike that caused damage, it would have arced to the ground from somewhere, your tire rim?? It should show damage or at a minimum some indication of an arc.
Perhaps call or visit your local NWS office to brief you on weather that day?
