Default 2016 XLT 6.5' bed Side Rail Protector

My first posting!!!

Just purchased an 2016 XLT with 6.5' bed. I ordered a set of Bed Hooks from Bull Ring (the same manufacture who provides the genuine Ford Ring hooks). Had no issues installing them on the rear of the bed, when I removed the front covers I discovered the cutout in the plastic Truck Bed Side Rail Protector was badly misaligned with the hole in the metal, this offset is quite substantial. The Bull Ring would not sit flush. I called Bull Ring, apparently this is a known issue with the F150s for as soon I said I have a 2016 F150 he said "let me guess the front holes are offset". According to Bull Ring not enough customers have raised the issue for Ford to perform any kind of recall.

I took the truck to my dealer, apparently I'm the only one who has pointed this out to them. The Manager said no one uses tie down hooks any more..

They took pictures & will be sending them to Ford proper to see if any action can be taken. The manager informed me that although the hole is obviously offset it may not be an issue. We checked several other trucks on the lot, all had the same offset.

Anyone here use rail hooks? Thanks all...

Can't help you out, but I can see why this issue isn't commonly reported........I didn't even know that you could install bed hooks on top of the side rails. I always just use the hooks under the rubber covers in the drop-in liner, near the bottom of each corner of the bed.

Semper-Fi-->

I was planning on adding these same Hooks...Now I guess I'm out unless you or Ford come up with a fix.

Like having the option of different levels/locations to attach straps etc.

I just bought bull rings for a used 2016, and ran into the same problem. Did Ford come up with a fix for the problem? Even the Bull Rings designed for the misaligned bed rail covers don't work because it is so badly off.

I ordered a set of 4 4025 Bull Ring tie downs myself. I called Bull Ring and Steve offered to ship me 2 4035 Extreme Offset rings for the front since the 4025 will not fit. Give Bull Ring a call. They will help you out.

I bought the 4025 and they fit perfect on my 2018 F150. I did only use them on the rear.

Mine did too (the rear ones) and the box the 4 came in had a sticker on it indicating which 2 to install near the cab. Those 2 were offset a bit more than the 2 back ones but not enough. The back ones installed easily enough though and seem to work great. If I had any feedback, I would suggest they added security torx screws instead of plain phillips just to make it that harder for thieves. They install flush and can't be seen unless you walk right up to the truck though so that's a plus.

Was actually just getting ready to order all four of these for my 2018. Is this a problem with the 18's too? I assume so.
