Trucks been out of service 19 days for the same issue.... 30 days would qualify you for the lemon law in most states. Something to consider.

That's an interesting point.. here is Colorado's rule:
When a new vehicle has been purchased with a
manufacturer’s warranty and it has a defect that
substantially impairs its use and market value within one
year of purchase and that defect is not repaired after a
“reasonable number of attempts,” the consumer may
have recourse under Colorado’s Lemon Law. A court may
order the manufacturer to replace the vehicle or refund the
purchase price minus a reasonable allowance for use of the
vehicle.

Under the law, a “reasonable number of attempts” to repair
a defect applies when the same defect remains after it has
been subject to repair four (4) or more times
within the first
year after the date of original delivery. It also applies when
the vehicle is out of service for repairs for a cumulative total
of thirty (30) or more business days
during the warranty
term or one year after original delivery, whichever comes
first.

I hope they don't drag out bringing it back for repair by months to get past the 1 year mark to avoid this.

It also says:
Prior to suing a manufacturer for a refund or
replacement vehicle, the consumer must first send
a written notice of defect by certified mail to the
manufacturer. The consumer must give them a chance
to repair the vehicle and go through the manufacturer’s
informal dispute settlement procedure, if one exists.
I guess I'll have to get a letter written up soon.

I think the main issue with the dealers and replacing any Sync3 units is that Ford actually gets these direct from Sony (I believe sony is the manufacturer of the actual units) and not from Ford direct, so its a bigger hassle to get warranty replacements. For this reason Ford and the dealers seem hesitant to say its bad unless it throws a code.

I was having issues with my Sync3 connecting regularly to my LG G5 and that is what I was told.

You couldnt be more wrong. The units are manufactured by Panasonic in Mexico. They load the software from QNX/RIM/Blackberry.

The dealers are replacing them, albeit once, and there is a 3 week waiting period for them. They are in severe backorder.

Based on the "defect remains after it has
been subject to repair four (4) or more times"
you should be able to file under the lemon law, unless i am totaly reading it wrong. There was some one that just went through the lemon law in their state, ill loom for and post the link.

here you go, if do pursue the lemon law please post back and let us know how it went please.

before u go through the lemon law, if you do ask for service print outs unless you already have copies, just incase the service documents mysterious disappear from the dealer.

Well, I came close to a lemon claim, but Ford / Dealer finally got it working. They wound up replacing "APIM" which is the part they originally replaced. Perhaps there was a bad run of them at the factory. It has been working for about a month now. I had to open a ford customer service ticket and get it escalated at Ford before all was said and done. An interesting thing is that when I got the truck back, the firmware was downgraded from v2.2 (which I downloaded from the Ford website in January) to v2.0.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in to help with advice! Hopefully this helps anyone else with the red GPS circle / lockup problem.
