This problem is still happening to this day with my truck. 16' XLT. Pain in the but! So random as well! Just can't spare being without a vehicle while the dealership tries to diagnose the problem...

I have a new 2017 F150 and have the same problem with the radio. Googled it and found this forum. It happened randomly today and then at light the Start/Stop tech restarted the engine when the light turned green and the radio came on. Go figure.

Remove Sync fuse, turn truck to accessory... turn off.... replace fuse.

Well that specifically mentions the 4" screen. I wonder if it applies to all trucks. Mine hasn't done it in about a month, but I'm 100% certain it will occur again soon.

the screen is still lit in my truck but there is no radio/sat/etc output(sound). I don't think the voice controls work either. I've only had it two weeks so the Ford doctor's can fix it.

I had the same issue with my 16 Lariat, no audio, everything else was working, but no audio, including the phone. Took it in and they found SSM 45945, F150, Mustang, no audio after starting engine, and applied the fix. It has only been a few days, but the radio has been working OK since.

Reprogram ACM to latest code using IDS code 101.03 or higher.

I'm so glad I found this thread. My last 4 'new' vehicles were Fords. My F150 was the only one with no problem until the day I was to transfer the title, after 12 years. This will probably be my last Ford. A month ago I got in my vehicle, and as I was driving down the road, I noticed my screen has the rear camera on and I saw everything behind me as I drove. Crazy! The local deal said Ford was probably sending me an update and I caught it in the middle. Hmmm... Last night I got out of my Edge for 15 minutes ,back in and screen was black the entire ride home. Ugh...a new vehicle should not act this way. These screens are NOT new to Ford. Thank you all for your information on this situation!

The 'receiving update' is the most viable explanation I've heard..lol
This just happened to me again last Friday ( April 21) I called the dealership to 'warn them' that I could not access my screen to view my radio, back up camera, Bluetooth' and that if it did not return, then I would be down to see them. My system returned within 30 min. This is the 3rd time it has happened in a year.

Surchdg8, I just called another local Ford dealership and figured if this is covered by my warranty, then they should do the master reset, suggested in one of the other replies. They told me it's not covered by warranty and told me they would just disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, but have to charge me. But the link by the other blogger sounded much easier. Just follow the menu options in my dashboard. For free! I also asked them about seeing my rear view in my screen, while driving down the road. They had heard of it but didn't have an explanation, but he does think the reset should also fix that. I told them what I had been told, about a push being sent to my truck, and they said it's possible. I still have my doubts though.
