2016 RCLB HDPP ride questions
Hello. Recently picked up a 2016 Regular Cab Long Bed with the Heavy Duty Payload Package. I love it but the only thing is the ride is a little rough. I've been searching the forum and keep finding the Bilstein 5100 discussions but I'm not sure if is should upgrade all four corners or just the front end. Any input is appreciated.

I’m sure the heavy duty payload package is the cause of the hard ride. This style of truck was meant to haul and work the day it drove off the dealer lot. Designed to have 1,000 lbs in the bed 24/7. Shocks are not going to help it with a smooth daily driver ride.

You have a 633lb front spring rate, if your not too worried about hauling at the max drop down to the 513lb springs that are used mostly with the long and shortbed Screws. Install those with the bilsteins and I think you would have a pretty comfy ride.

It's the HDPP - it has the highest rate springs you can get and a thicker, stiffer frame, It's going to ride worse than a Platinum by design. My HDPP SCREW rides pretty dang good really at its 6050 lb curb weight. What's yours weigh? As some said, adding weight to the bed is quickest easiest way to help. 4-6 80lb bags of concrete mix would work.

I'll try again... what's your tire pressure. Lowering tire pressure is the fastest easiest way to get a smoother ride. The HDPP trucks have an artificially high tire pressure specified on the door for times when you are empty. The tire pressure is appropriate for when you are loaded.

I was pretty sure the only way to get HDPP is to have a scab 8' foot bed 164" WB or a screw 6.5' bed 157" WB that being said I own a 157" WB HDPP I run it pretty much max payload all the time with E tires loaded to 75-80 psi and I don't find the ride that harsh maybe add some weight or lower the tire pressure if not hauling heavy I am still on stock shocks plan to change them out soon

Thanks all. I know the HDPP is why it's riding rough. It's my evening/weekend driver with the occasional trailer w/ 2 atv's. But I got a fantastic deal so I grabbed it even though it's a kidney shaker when empty. I was thinking that I'd try some aftermarket coilovers up front and maybe have a leaf removed out back. I was also thinking if I go with the coilovers I could level that front a bit but I read somewhere that leveling the front could eat up my cv joints. Decisions decisions.
