2016 F150 2.7 Ecoboost with annoying problems...
#41
I had the exact same problem pulling a 4 place snowmobile trailer across South Dakota and Wyoming. When I had a heavy head wind and pulled over to get gas, it would stall when trying to start. I would have to give it gas and rev it up to get it to stay running. Speed limits are 80 and my tires are rated for 82. Pulled into a dealership in Cheyenne and they could not find any codes or problems. If there wasn't a strong head wind to make it pull really hard then I wouldn't have any problems. If anyone finds a fix for this, I would like to know.

I am finally getting mine into the dealership tomorrow, permitting they are willing to wave the ridiculous $100 diagnostic fee on my 4 month old truck. I will share what they find, or don't find.

For those of you with this issue, see my thread here https://www.f150forum.com/f118/engin...2/#post5244251
Had some major issues tonight and found out my oil level is extremely low. Falls under the tsb to replace the block on the 2.7. Will be going to the dealership tomorrow.

Okay everyone having this issue, CHECK YOUR OIL!
I just got a call from the dealership, looks like luckily ford isn't messing around with mine. Dealer told me they have a new engine on order and it will be here Tuesday.

I have a 4/16 built 2.7 and checked my oil the other day and all is good. No oil useage or anything and I'm on my second oil change about 3200 miles into it. Is there a certain range of miles when these issues are arising? I have 7400 on my truck.

I was going to ask the same. June build here and almost 6k. Not losing oil that I can tell and been checking pretty regularly since this all started coming out. Hopefully it's an issue that shows up quickly and you're in the clear of you get past it. Can't say it gives me the warm and fuzzy long term though. Have we ever found out what the actual root cause/defect is?

I have 7200 miles on my truck, but I have not had an oil change yet. Oil monitor still says 30% left. Ironically I was planning on taking it in for the first oil change today. So I would definitely keep checking the level periodically.

I'd say anything from 65-85 mph is reasonable conditions permitting.
Sure you can expect increased wear and possible failure if you're doing 100 mph pulling 7000 up a mountain for hours.
If your coolant, trans temps and oil pressure/temps are showing reasonable readings and your well under redline any speed should be fine. ( tire ratings and conditions permitting)
Pretty reasonable expectation to be able to tow a couple snowmobiles at 80 mph for a couple hours on the highway. You should be able to expect the truck to restart without stalling afterwards.
Just a bit of common sense related to conditions and checking the gauges should have the truck holding up just fine.
90 mph up hill for 2 hours while pulling 7000lbs on a 110F day.... maybe not a good idea.
85 mph, flat ground, on a open highway, 40F day..... go for it.
