Funny you mention that. The 2015 still hasn't grown on me yet, but that isn't to say I would buy anything else. I'm a diehard Ford guy and keep hoping Ford will make some minor tweaks to make the new truck more appealing.

Basically this is a Tremor in something other than a Regular Cab that everyone was asking for. You can get it in all cabs now. You asked. Ford delivered.

I'm not going to comment on whether I like it or not...that's too subjective.
But what I do want to say is two things:
1. What exactly do we have a special edition for? Is this some kind of milestone or heritage thing or are we celebrating something? Like the 50th anniversary Mustang or a Shelby model or...? I think Ford would be better off not spending time on a special edition and spend that time focusing on the truck as a whole.
2. With the competition kicking Ford's teeth in (without any justifiable reason nonetheless) and the negativity surrounding the problems and retooling...can Ford afford to be screwing around with a frankly non-special special edition? Someone at Ford has bling-fever and needs a reality check soon, else they're going to get one later in the form of a brand recession.

Apparently, these things doesn't matter to Ford. The way this new generation is turning out to be, perhaps this will be a winner. I always said: "Build a house or city anywhere, and suckers will buy it." So goes the same with new trucks and cars. Blows my mind what ugly stuff has been built, yet many people bought them.
This "new appearance package" makes me puke. Subjective, of course. But I am not afraid to express my opinion.
btw...that grille on the Lariat looks like an XLT. No thanks!

Other times its just to counter the other makers news. Its a "cheap" way to get reviews , airtime and people talking about the truck. I mean blacked light housings and orange paint accents aren't a huge financial investment by comparison to R&D a new F-150 Lightning
