I realize this doesn't apply to your situation, but if they were forced to fix them in other vehicles, maybe yours would be covered at some point if enough people complained. It's a safety thing.

Kinda surprising that smaller SUVs were covered by that article but not the Explorers.

Did they say what part of the throttle body specifically was failing? A gasket/seal? Throttle body housing itself, or the servo unit? I can't imagine it would be the housing itself.

[QUOTE=Johnny_bravo00;4766961]Good write up. My last 2012 eco had the same issues and forced me to white knuckle it across 4 lanes also. Happened probably 6 times over 3 years.[/QUOT/]
Same issue replacement? I can't imagine towing and this happening

This is not the first throttle body issue I've heard of with 2014-2016 F-150's with the 3.5. I haven't had a single issue with electrical on my truck, so I'm crossing my fingers.
What was wrong with cable drive throttle? Lol

He did mention that it took a day or 2 longer than expected to get it in, so perhaps there was a backlog starting already back then.
For those that are talking about warning lights, this happened with no warning for me. No symptoms ahead of time, no lights, no performance issues. The truck just died on the highway. All warning lights happened at the same time that the truck lost power. And did not throw any codes the first 5 times it happened. (3 for me, and 2 for the dealership, and my service rep said that they had a computer plugged into the truck when it happened and it still didn't throw any codes.) The only way that I was able to go back and document exactly when it happened for my dealer was by viewing the error code readout from the Telogis Telematics Module in the truck, and pinpointing when the airbag light warning message registered.
I can understand how a throttle body issue can cause the warning lights, wrench icon, and the hill descent control warnings, but not the airbag light warning. Perhaps someone who knows more about all of this can venture a guess as to why the throttle body failing causes the airbag warning light to go off?

Man, I hear throttle body I cringe... This was a big problem with my 03 Chevy Avalanche. However, the problem didn't start until the truck had 170K on it. It would just shut down just like your problem, turn off, start back up, go on your way. What a pain that was. They swapped out 2 TBs and it was still happening. Turned out to be this wiring type thing that looked kind of like a spider or something, with a bunch of wires coming out of a plug. (I'm so technical! HA!) I forgot what they called it.
Anyway, hope they got your problem fixed because it took forever to pin point the issue on my last truck.
