2016 Bumper Replacement - Got backed into
So fun drive into work yesterday. Was sitting at a light two back waiting on it to turn green to take a left. When it did, I was very surprised to see the car in front of me go in reverse instead of forward. Apparently she had pulled too far into the intersection and backed up before I got behind her. I don't think her reverse lights worked either.
Anyone replaced their bumper with something not OEM? I could just replace it (think it is really only the bumper that got damaged as it wasn't high speed) but curious if anyone has done something different.

Probably just depends on what kind of look you are going after and how much you want to spend. I would imagine that if you are pretty reasonable you can find something as expensive or even cheaper than having a shop repair and repaint. It is something that is done pretty frequently on trucks as a bump or scratch is easier to repair when the heavy gauge bumper holds up. Might hurt fuel economy a tad as well due to added weight.
Likely the one thing you will run into if you go after market is that they are going to look pretty beefy and most of the time they seem to require removing the front crash bars. It isn't absolutely required that you remove the crash bars, but it really looks kind of silly if you don't.
If you are shopping for a rear bumper to match be careful. Not all rear bumpers work with the oem hitch.

I have the Premium Front Bumper with Full Guard. It looks great. It wasn't cheap. It's also only 185lbs. - when you factor the weight of the regular front bumper in, it's only ~120lbs. extra on the front end. Much better than something like the Road Armor.

It's not bad damage but the stupidity of getting backed into at a stoplight would give me the red @$$

I just had both bumpers replaced as a result of being rear ended....the OEM price on the front bumper (chrome) for a 2017 was in the 350 dollar range.....the plate bracket was 14 bucks....lol
