2016 5.0 starting and fuel issues
Some development, my 2016 5.0 with 127000km on it now, did the long crank thing with outside temp about 0c and sitting in the sun. Took it in to a shop and had them replace the fuel pump because I really believe that’s the issue. I work remote so a no start one day would cost me as much as a pump. Will update if long crank occurs or doesn’t in a bit. Won’t know for sure until I get a nice hot day
update if it long cranks but for now I’m going to go ahead and say the check valve in the fuel pump couldn’t take the slight pressure increase from heat. New pump, no issue so far.
I’m nearly convinced this was the issue, yesterday and today 28c and 30c ran the truck lots. Parked to bake in the sun, started fine. Tried about 4 times now. Will

I'm chasing the same action, as the Temps get colder, the crank time gets noticeably longer.
Try this and see if it makes a difference., Open the fuel tank cap a few seconds, then close it, before cranking and see if it repeatedly, has a perceptible effect on cranking time to starting.
If yes, check the EVAP Purge valve for leaking when cold. It may not be enough to set a code for that system.
It is supposed to stay closed until the engine warms, then pulsed to open and closed so it does not let any gas fumes out of the Tank while sitting.
Another thing I am not sure of yet is at the start of cranking, there is no ignition until the starter rpm gets the engine up to a certain speed, than allows it.
This is all up in the air yet, as I have not tested my EVAP Purge Valve due to being cold outside. Watching the RPM readout on the Dash Readout, in Engineering Mode shows this may also be in effect.
So, your not alone in this. My engine always fires off, otherwise.
I'm trying to solve it as well. Can only work on it when the conditions are present.
Good luck.
