Default 2016 4x4 wheel / tire fitment and lift

I just purchased a new (for me) 2016 F150 SCREW XLT 4x4. I am coming from a 2010 F150 SCREW 2 WD. I lifted the front and back 3" and had installed Raptor wheels and 315 75 R17's and I had no issues with rubbing and I loved the stance. The tire stuck out just enough. I did not have any fender flares on the truck though. With my new truck, I plan on using the same wheel / tire set up, but I will likely end up installing fender flares (2"), but I want to maintain the same amount of tire extending past the fender flares as I did on my 2010 past the fenders. So with that said, I want to make sure that I lift the truck enough not to have rubbing issues. Will a 3 inch lift (coilover) be enough or do I need to go to a full 4" kit?

Thanks

If you're leveling 3" on a 4WD truck--and not with a lift kit and diff drop--you're asking for problems. Tire poke is the least of your problems; your CV angles will be way out of whack. It's questionable on a 2WD due to suspension geometry; on a 4WD, it's just ill-advised. Go down to 2" in the front or get a lift kit to avoid premature failure of drive components.
