2016 3.5 EcoBoost Service AdvanceTrac/Hill Descent Fault Limp Mode Issue Again
#11
I had the exact same issue with my 3.5 EB that you are having. In the end I had to go the route of pursuing the lemon law (in Ohio) and Ford was forced to replace my 2015 with a 2016 (which I opted for the 5.0 this time around after reading about other issues with the 3.5 EB).

So I take it the dealership/Ford was unable to resolve the issue? How many times did it occur before you qualified for the Ohio Lemon Law? Was it a combination of the number of failed attempts to resolve an issue and a total number of days at the service department that made your truck qualify for replacement?
In the first year or first 18,000 miles, whichever occurs first:
• Have three or more attempts been made to repair one problem and then the problem either continues to exist or occurs again?
• Has the vehicle been in the shop for a cumulative total of 30 days or more during its first year or 18,000 miles, whichever occurs first?
• Have eight or more attempts been made to fix different problems?
• Has one unsuccessful attempt been made to fix a problem that could cause death or serious injury?
If you answered “yes” to at least one of these four questions, you have the legal right to ask the manufacturer to replace the lemon or refund the entire purchase price.
My truck only had 8,000 miles on it at the time, and was roughly 7 months old. They attempted to repair it 3+ times, and it was considered a problem that could cause death or serious injury.
I had a really hard time getting Ford to do anything to remedy the situation. The dealership kept passing blame to corporate. Corporate wouldn't take any action and kept pushing me aside. I eventually called the attorney general's office and filed a complaint with Ford and started the process to file a lemon law claim. I contacted an attorney that specializes in this field as well and they gave me direction. My next call was back to Ford Corporate and I explained to them the route I was taking and that they could contact my attorney going forward. The next day I got a call from Ford's RAV (required vehicle dept) about the situation, and they offered to replace my vehicle with a 2016 of my choosing (equal value or greater).

And what do you know, at about 7,000 miles, on my way in to work this morning, my truck entered limp mode again. This makes four or five times since new, and its third time at the Ford service department (two of the instances happened between visits to the service department).
I expect this visit to be like the other two: hold my vehicle there for a few days, rack up a bunch of miles on it, and then say they have checked everything and contacted the Ford Tech Hotline and there is nothing they can do because they don't know what is wrong. Pretty frustrating...
I am so ready to Lemon Law this truck, but in California, the law states that the service department has to make four attempts at (not successfully) resolving the same issue, rather than the three that was stated above for the case in Ohio. With almost 4,500 miles between occurrences, and based on my relatively low annual mileage, I may have to wait another six months for the issue to reoccur. Unless, of course, I could prove that this issue could result in bodily injury or death - which one could argue is true, but the attorney I consulted with a few months ago said to wait until two more occurrences, which would be the next occurrence.
In California, Lemon Law complaints are handled through an arbitration process, unless the party(s) decides to hire their own lawyer. Is this a good way to go, or should I hire a lawyer? I would like to avoid paying the legal fees, but I am afraid that if I select arbitration and lose, this will hinder my ability file and win a claim in the future.
I am also pretty annoyed by this because I am having to commute in my BMW M3, which is my weekend/track car that I don't like to put a bunch of miles on - especially of the stop and go variety. I am going to call the service manager now and ask for a loaner/rental. Am I entitled to one for this?

I've posted before about this issue, except mine did not go into limp mode (maybe different problem?) I got all the advancetrac/blind spot/lane assist/ adaptive cruise errors when it happened to me. I recently took into service and they didn't find anything wrong but did update the PCM. I do note a rough idle everyday, but service said 0 misfire count... I did buy the flood ford ESP so am covered as long as I'll own the vehicle.

Will chime in on this one since it just happened this past Saturday AM on my 2015 3.5EB Lariat with 75K miles. Was heading to dealer for normal service and I got the limp mode Christmas tree display when exiting the freeway. When I got to dealer, BTW this is not my purchase dealer but my service dealer in Dallas that has been awesome since day one. I told them what happened and I need to get a rental so I could get to the Rangers baseball game by 4:00. My service advisor said let me check the codes first. 5 minutes later he said yep it's your throttle body I can have it done in 3 hours. 3.5 hours later was out the door new throttle body, maintenance and car wash completed.
Frustrating but glad to have a great service dealer who doesn’t BS and gets things done.

Hill descent limp mode
2016 f150 3.5 ecoboost, I'm going to start that I have always been a chevy guy, but I decided to support friends and family that work for ford. My truck is 10 months old with 20k miles. I've had issues with loosing display screen and now with it locking in on hill descent mode, traction control and all the other faults people are getting. Happened the other day, called the dealer and was told to shut it off and it would rest and bring it in the following week. Let them know I was going camping and pulling a 6k lb trailer and they said it should be ok. While pulling the camper it happened again going about 65mph and what a ride. I'm not sure how many things we almost hit but it wasn't fun. After my wife refused to keep going and we had to have someone drive an hour to pick her and the dog up. As I drove back home 55 miles. It happened again. By looking at all the post I'm not sure what it can be or if I'll trust this truck again. I like the truck but if the dealer or ford gives me the run around. You can bet that this will be the last one I'll buy
