Default 2016 2.7 oil filter - hard to find

More of just a bitching post. Wal-Mart, Meijer, and even Auto-zone had no selection. 4 places to find an oil fiter. I think I'm going to order on Amazon.

Even trying to look for different models, there's only the base models. Mobil1 doesn't even have a filter. During year 1, not real surprised. But it's almost 2018 and still limited selection.

Which filter is it? Is it different than the Gen 2 3.5L Ecoboost?

I usually do all my own oil changes, but I have a free oil change coupon from the purchase of my truck, so figured I use that for the first one.... maybe hit that in Febuary or March...

Don't you have a Ford/NAPA dealer near you to buy Motorcraft/WIX filters?
Online sources also include Rock Auto & Ebay.

Just a heads-up. Since the 2.7 filter is nothing more than a filter media & core, any reputable brand is likely to be comparable to its competitor, i.e. the mechanical components of a spin-on filter brand that you may prefer are absent in the 2.7 cartridge filter (they are built into the engine). I commonly interchange between OEM & WIX with Motorcraft being only $6.12 at my Ford dealer.

The OP referenced the 2.7 engine which uses a cartridge filter. The 3.5 uses a spin-on filter.

I just bought 12 Motorcraft FL2062 filters for the 2.7 from Rock Auto...4.95 each plus shipping of 6.99 for the lot. Total cost = 66.39

Why not just buy Motorcraft brand from Amazon? Cheap and always available.

I just ordered 2 Motorcraft from Amazon. Just frustrating when you go to get the materials one day with plans to change it the next and can't find a filter.

careful with that on a 2.7. I had lifetime oil.. after the 1st I do them myself, morons had no clue about wait times and I ended up draining out a mix of 11 quarts of oil...I think they use high school kids for oil changes

I found this out the same way you did. Napa had it in stock but cost quite a bit more than the OEM through Amazon. Next time I will plan ahead and order it on-line.
