2015's Small Fuel Tank and Extra Cost
I have been looking at Window Stickers of 2015 trucks at dealers all over Ohio. Have noticed that many have only a 23 gallon fuel tank and the 38 gallon tank costs extra. Don't know why anyone would want a 23 gallon fuel tank. All in all when fitted with the options that I have on my 2013 XLT, they are much more expensive.

Smaller fuel tank equals less weight. Translates into more fuel economy. Yes it will have a smaller driving range, but Ford wants to make the fuel economy higher on these new trucks to out shine the competition.

~ 81 pounds more fuel with 36 gal tank.
~ 260 more miles fuel range with larger tank.

I love my 36 gallon tank on my 2013. In my long trips and traveling across Ohio like I do every week, I can find the cheapest gasoline on "Gas Buddy". We have been buying all our gasoline the last month at $2.55 a gallon or less. Couldn't reach this station from our destinations if we had only a 23 gallon tank. Save 25 to 35 cents a gallon every week. And we buy over 30 gallons a week.

I'm pretty sure the new large tank on 15's is 33 gallons. Part of the over-all weight reduction program I assume.
