No matter which tuck you get, make sure to check for some of the major things talked about on this form so far:

dash warp
door alignments
wind noise, door, cabin
problems with cooled/heated seats
leather strech
rattle noise at startup
doors not closing easily
leaks on the carpet, stains
rattles in the dash
rattles in the back seats, moonroof, front, rear doors
discoloration of glove box
4x4 operation grinding clunking
Torque covertor whine noise
Oil leaks, stains under the truck
Differential leaks/seeping
Rust on frame, drive line, etc

These are just some of the big ones that members brought up, as far as I can remember

Take a long good drive, take some bumpy roads, tell the salesman to keep it quiet or get him a loli-pop, listen good.

Get the latest build-date possible, Go from there, Have fun!

If any issues detected get them corrected before you give them the payment and before you pick up your truck, after that it's going to be like pulling teeth and a major inconvenience.

Last 3 days before the end of the month is a good motivator to get the best possible deal, December is always good too for discounts, that's all I got for ya I think

I've got a 2015 Lariat 2.7L 2WD... have 7K miles on it now... had for 8 months... Zero issues with it.. completely happy with it... for what it's worth.

This is grossly inaccurate. To say that an XLT has the same trade in value as a Lariat is ridiculous. At the end of the day you will pay $10k more, but you have a truck that is worth $10k more and has higher resale value. They are also easier to sell and your trade in value will always be higher. So you pay $10k now (plus interest) but when you sell you will get the majority of that back. The question is, are you comfortable tying up $10k more or not.

You go on any forum covering any new vehicle you are going to have a laundry list of problems. I do not care what brand you are talking about from Mercedes Benz to Kia. You want to check for the problems you see over and over. I will tell you so far (knock on wood) I have none of these issues.

It is what it is, six, seven years from now it will not matter much, the difference will be insignificant. Sorry.

Agree. The higher price you pay, the more depreciation. That extra $10 will be $8k after you drive off the lot and after 3-5 years about half that...

I have owned both xlt and loaded lariats (4 of them) so I speak from some real world experience here...

Totally agreed. While it's true that the difference is less than what it is on the window sticker, it's not insignificant, and a Lariat buyer will get a large chunk of that money back when he sells it. The price of entry is lower on the used market, but buyers still pay more to get leather seats and all the goodies as they do on the new market. If a Lariat could be had for the same price as an XLT on the used market, nobody would buy used XLTs.

Go look at Raptor pricing for a good example.

My 2.7L eco has been geat so far, door adjustments, and a rattle behind my speedo in the dash are the only issues on my truck. Powertrain has been flawless.

Just giving a potential new owner the info he needs to make sure he has a great experience, and is not dissapointed in his 40K+ or so truck purchase.

Honestly I could not give a "RAT'S ***"" what other vehicles/manufacturers are having issues with, and trying to justify that it is acceptable, he is trying to buy an F150 truck, so that's what we are focused on here.

Pay ATTENTION!!
