2015 XLT Backup Sensors Malfunction When Raining
Did my best to search for this before starting a new thread - didn't see this addressed in the forum.
When backing up in rain, my backup sensors go off making them useless - otherwise when dry, they perform as advertised (if I backup slowly enough).
Just wondering if this is a "characteristic" as they say, when something can't be fixed, or whether there is something actually wrong with the system. I'm trying to avoid spending a time at the dealer waiting if its not going to help.
I always look and am careful when backing, thanks to a few notable experiences early in my driving career - but when the vis is low during rain, thats when it would help the most to have this system. As a side note, the backup camera gets covered with water during rain and makes it equally as useless, but I'm attributing that to being a cheap camera unit.
I had a 2006 Honda Ridgeline and never had this problem with the sensors. I also had a 2015 Tacoma which had an amazingly clear camera under all conditions.
Am I being too picky again?

I don't think you are being too picky. It's called constructive criticism. I too think they could have down a better job with the camera and position it so its more protected from dirt etc. I am now in the habit of walking around my truck and wiping the camera lens with my finger as I walk by it every other day. I keep a rag in the door pocket and will dry the sensors after a car wash or heavy wet snow fall. I'm still happy I have the camera and sensors but they are not perfect.

After a very mild beginning and a record latest ever measurable snowfall mine acted up last week. Snow on the roads with slush and cold temps for three days. Checked the sensors on the back bumper but all were clear. Backing would set the system off with a constant alarm as though you were up against a solid object. Weather changed and the temps went back up and the truck sat in the sun. Problem ended. I expect it to return again as snow is forecast all week. I sprayed each sensor from behind the bumper with silicone spray to see if that will make any difference. By the way my 2011 F150 had similar issues at times. I'm just gonna live with it.

Is it all of the sensors, or just one? I had just one that didn't like the rain, after 18k miles it started acting up...and it took some arguing with the service manager as to if it should or should not be happening.....the sensor ended up getting replaced, and have not had an issue since.

Mine did it last night for the first time in snow and 10 degree temperature. First snow plus first real cold too. It was like I was backing up 1" away from a brick wall, constant beep. They did not have anything on them, just the white salt spray off the roads.

So far my sensors haven't bothered in the rain or snow. As for the backup camera, I put some rain-x on the lens and it helped quite a bit. It's not perfect now, but the view is much better in the rain.

My backup sensors have failed twice now with 6000 miles on my Lariat Scab. Both times have been when wet. Both times they have started working properly again after drying out. I have not had it back to the dealer for the problem as that is pretty inconvienient, so when I get a chance to work on it I will try to diagnose myself. I assume it is a water intrusion problem.
