Default 2015+ Windshield Tint Strip

So I was at the tint place and couldn't decide on tint strip placement when they asked me where I wanted it. I told them to hold off and do the rest of the windows. I've debated doing the whole windshield in a light shade like in 65% but I may just settle for a tint strip. So, my question is how far down and how wide are you running your tint strips? The tint guy said going to the AS-1 line would stop the strip at the F150 symbol in the middle of the windshield. I agreed with the guy that it would be not much of a strip if we did that. He moved it down to the bottom of the F-150 symbol which looked decent. And then moved it further to the bottom of the mirror mount, which seemed too low. I'm fairly tall, but want a functional strip if I do it. I'm planning on doing it in 5%. So what do you think bottom of the F-150 symbol or to the bottom of the mirror mount? Either pushes the side of the strip beyond the AS-1 line which is illegal here. The AS-1 line on my truck seems sooo high compared to other vehicles. Its a 2017. Does the strip do anything for headlights at night or street lights?
Thanks-

The as1 line on mine is 10.25" from the top of the glass and I don't have the F150 logo in the glass either. I remember someone else with a 2015 saying they did though.
I would say bottom of the F150 if it still blocks the sun/lights.

Here we can't go lower than the as1 line either so I am running mine at it but instead of tint I am using vinyl (like vinyl wrap) which is opaque. I wanted to hide my SCT X4 from the outside so looking in from the front you can't see it and with the visor down it can't be seen from the door either.

I remember reading somewhere the AS-1 line is based off the eyes line of sight of a person on the tall end of the height spectrum sitting proper in the seat. Anyway, I'm sure the tint will do something for street lights but I cant see it doing much for headlights.

If your eyes are sensitive, and have a hard time adjusting at night, you can go to an eye doctor or your PCP and get yourself a medical exemption for tint.

Legally we can't go below the line but if I could I would!

I guess also the question would be, what would be scrutinized more by cops, a windshield strip positioned slightly too far down or a lightly tinted windshield?

In my experience, a huge dark tint brow is a cop magnet. And my last two trucks have full windshield tint, and the last truck got tipped off by the trooper who pulled me over because I had a longer tint brow over a decently dark windshield

I had my tint guy "place" the strip just under the Ford logo. That made it like 4" below the AS-1 line due to curvature. So I held off. He told me what shop to go to that laser measures and cuts the strip to be straight across. I have yet to go as I think I prefer no tint strip.

I've heard it both ways. Some people place the strip to make it look like they didint tint the windshield. Or you didint tint the windshield and they go after the strip being too far down.

Well I got it done and brought it down just to the bottom of the Ford emblem. Yes, it ends up dropping to 3-4" below the AS1 line on the sides, but it looks like it's not that low from the outside and legal. On the inside, I wouldn't want it any lower and on the outside wouldn't want it any lower either to avoid attracting attention. If it has to be to the AS-1, your only choice really is to goto a tint shop that can cut a curve in the tint so it sits straight on the windshield. Otherwise, if you do the curved brow, it wont be much of a brow at all and will be pointless....the peak of it will end up running off the the top of the windshield and you have a two piece brow, more like some random pieces of tint on the top of the windshield that do nothing. If you can find a place with a computer plotter that can cut a straight one (have to cut a wide curve in bottom edge of tint), id imagine you can run one parallel to the bottom of the Factory visor and be at or damn close to the AS-1 line on the edge. My tint guy cuts by hand and was only able to do a curved one (flat bottom edge of tint). Technically a straight strip of tint, but curves due to the windshield.

Percentages are 5% on the brow, 30% on the sides, and 20% on back privacy glass, which brings them down to 5%. 30% is about as dark as I want it and wouldn't recommend putting anything more than 20% on the backs. 5% will bring them down to practically 0%. The rest of the windshield is still bothering me though. Might do 70% below the brow or leave it be. On a windshield, 50% while it's really what id want to do, looks too dark and obviously a tinted windshield to cops. Talked to a police friend and said tinted windshield other than a top strip is a big no-no. Front side windows are okay as long as they're not blacked out, which is why I went 30%. 20% looked like its pushing it. Can still see in at 30% but not crazy light. I thought about pulling the 20% off the back side windows and going to 45% to match the fronts better but keeping the back glass 20% to keep the glare out. But the blacked out rear windows is nice for security and are unregulated. And for the brow, go 5% or don't do it at all. The sun still manages to cut through 5% tint a little.

Just do the entire windshield bro. I have 35% top to bottom on mine and ill never go back. Sure its illegal, but cops aren't exactly going around looking for people with tinted windshields to bust. I've had mine on for a year with 0 problems. Even if I had gotten pulled over AND gotten a ticket for my tint, it's still worth it. Driving around the other 364 days a year without the sun blinding you every day is very, very nice. 20% on all other windows.. and even on the brightest day, no need to drive w/ sunglasses on.
