M/T has a 4 page article on the new aluminum F150. "In fact about the new 2.7-liter: It received a trial-by-fire dyrability test by running incognito in the 2013 Baja 1000 desert race. Mounted in a prototype body with the 2015 frame and aluminum bodywork stamped to look like the 2013 model. The truck survived the race without incident, after which the team installed a Plexiglas windshield and drove home, sightseeing along the way!

They did a similar test with the 3.5 ecoboost before they launched it. Definitely a rough test but also doesn't always mii. Real world use. Although I do like my ecoboost, but rarely race in the baja.

2.7L EcoBoost ......That's the size of a big 4 cylinder.... Crazy!!!!
Not sure if you're referring to this but....
Those 5 torture tests with EcoBoost it was already launched because that engine came right off the assembly line.
