2015 Platinum - Warped exhaust manifold question
Hello all,
Looking for some help here. Bought a 2015 f150 platinum with 47k miles last week. Drove an hour to the dealer after confirming it was there. It ends up being "out for recall work" and I can pick it up in a week. They sign away the 1st right of refusal so I can back out if anything is bad. Due to the issue they gave me quite a few accommodations, including an even steeper discount and more on my trade in, 10 oil changes and a year warranty on the work being done (described below) -
HOWEVER- I found out this week it wasn't recall service. It was a warped exhaust manifold. In taking it out to replace they broke studa and what not. I push and prod to know all details. They tell me they are replacing (due to the exhaust manifold work) the cylinder head, exhaust manifold, camshaft and tappets for valves and the 02 sensor. EDIT for clarity this was the 29th at 730pm. The service manager was home and service was closed until the 2nd. They were not intentionally hiding that the vehicle was out for other reasons. The manager who could access that was out and promptly called me to explain why it wasn't On lot.
Also unrelated they said the rear window had an open wire and was replaced and there was originally a report of a loud whine in the back when above 60mph and unsure if it was related to the work above but couldn't duplicate. They will look into again after work is done.
So my long story short and question - is this kind of problem indicative of more issues in the future with this truck? Never owned a ford or a truck. Always been a toyota SUV person. Really want to keep this truck as it was a phenomenal deal but only if I have moderate peace of mind. It was purchased at a very large and well respected/reviewed ford dealership.
I apologize for the long read and appreciate legitimate responses based on experience or mechanical knowledge. Thank you,

3.5 l v6 twin turbo. I am in no way mechanically aware, I'm going off an email I have detailing those parts are being replaced due to the exhaust manifold work and damage that was done trying to remove/work on it. So I took that on faith!

Hummmm, two schools of thought. Something really went wrong with the engine and they are fixing it.
1. Yay, engine should be good now, live long and prosper.
2. Oh wow, what happened with the previous owner that caused a rather major malfunction and maybe more stuff is soon to be revealed.
Bottom line for me is why did they lie about the reason it was unavailable in the first place. I'd walk away from this deal and find another after hearing this story.

Are they selling this as a certified pre-owned vehicle?
Any other warranty beyond what they're offering (the 12 months)?
I'm failing to see how a camshaft replacement and valve work is related to a warped exhaust manifold.
Without more details, my reaction would be to find a different truck. Something's up with this one and in my mind there needs to be a good reason for it.

Your posting here says you have your doubts. And that doubt means that every time you hear a funny noise, or something doesn't exactly feel right, you're immediately going to think "OMG it's gonna blow up." Life's too short to deal with that.

^^ I agree ^^
Unless I knew exactly why and how the damage occurred I wouldn't even consider it. I would want no less than a 1 year bumper to bumper or 12K mile warranty, whichever is going to be the longest amount of time which obviously is determined on how much I drive the truck.
There are too many used trucks out there that haven't had the issues this one has. I'd keep looking. The other consideration is if the deal is that great, take the 1 year warranty and sell it when the warranty expires.
