Where do you get FLAC files from? Can you rip audio from a cd into flac files? Will they then go onto a USB stick and play on the car stereo?? I'm not a big fan of itunes...

Thanks

I agree. My 2011 Platinum sounded amazing. Traded it on a 2013 Raptor and it was very disappointing. I think the sound quality left the F150 in 2013 to present.

The break-in period for the stereo as outlined in the owners manual:
1. For the 1st 1000 miles do not exceed 50% Nominal Volume.

2. Vary your volumes up and down on regular intervals.

3. Do not play stereo at one constant volume for more than 1 hour.

Do you have the 3.5 EB? Does the sound improve with the engine off?

Just speculating that the engine sound enhancement feature on the 3.5 EBs, routed through the speakers, could affect the fidelity of sound from other sources. It's been suggested that some of the higher engine frequencies are blocked or somehow canceled and the low frequencies enhanced.

After spending 12 years installing professionally (MECP, IASCA & USAC certified), break in is not really necessary for most systems. Stereos using output ICs, connected to paper-cone speakers with foam surrounds, require little to no break-in. Subwoofers, and amplifiers using MOSFETS will benefit from power/volume cycling for a couple hours.

Because you say it sounds like most of the volume is coming from the front left speaker, I would do a tad more troubleshooting. Start with a CD, choose a track with fairly consistent volume output. Set the volume, and adjust your balance and fader controls to select one speaker at a time. Your front speakers should sound the same from left to right, and the rear speakers should sound the same from left to right (and only slightly quieter than the front speakers). Your front left will sound the loudest, and the rear left will be the quietest (it is behind you, and blocked by the seat). Do you have the factory subwoofer? You can pull the fuse for that for this testing, and then repeat with the fuse replaced. If you notice any issues, let the dealer take it from there.

My 2011 sucked until I changed the speakers. Infinity kappas work well. Also add poly fill to the sub to make it better. The factory speakers are half the problem. Unfortunately the stereo is the other half. It's really a shame that Ford gets away with putting in such a crappy stereo and feels ok by charging such a premium for it. I'm due to get a new truck this year and I usually buy the fully loaded truck with nav but I'm seriously thinking about getting a stripped down truck and putting in my own upgrades. For 62k the truck should have a damn good stereo already.
