2015 just left me stranded, POS

The problem with looking at THESE posts to make a purchase decision is that your getting complaints from a few people who are very vocal while the thousands of very satisfied customers aren't posting on a complaints thread.

I had planned to buy a 2015 Expedition but when I heard it was Ecoboost only. I didn't. I kept my 2008 5.4L which had the good heads without the notorious spark plug problems. Its not just the Turbos, they are having too many issues with Direct Injection vs Port Injection. Just way too many design problems lately. I am a retired engineer/scientist who used to manage a large engineering group for defense work. This would have been very embarrassing and costly for us to have been delivering this kind of stuff to our customers and they would have demanded compensation for damages.

Funny, I don't see any 5.0 owners making these comments. My guess is the turbos are not a proven and reliable technology. They word great....when they work!

It was only after the third time and with the dealer keeping it for about a week did they figure out it was a intermittent fault on the engine management computer. My Lariat had the 5.4.
What I'm getting at is that problems may not be unique to a specific motor (e.g. turbo vs V8) but could be something else.
Stuff happens, especially as cars are more complex, finely tuned, with more computerized control and monitoring.

Turbo engines run hotter than ordinarily aspirated engines. They require more care, including regular oil changes. There are basic physical laws that govern all this. Engineers occasionally think they can ignore those laws with a bit of engineering magic. Not being a believer in magic, I hold to the ancient totem "there's no substitute for cubic inches"....

2015 plat 4500 miles, driving down highway all of a sudden truck won't accelerate, lost power, felt like truck went into neutral. Lulled to the shoulder and truck is making a loud fan noise from front pass turbo and noise frm transfer case, I think. I tried everything to make this POS go, no 4wd, no 2wd, shifts but won't move. Had it towed to ford dealer and will see what happens today.
Any guesses?

I've never had a problem. I've seen LOTS of problems with 5.0, 5.4, 4.6 etc...having spent a long time in service departments at Ford. What you see here are a handful of people and hardly representative of the number of ecoboosts that are out there. If there you were told your chance of having a problem with your truck was 10 in 200,000 I'd guess you'd think the odd were pretty good that you weren't going to have a problem. I'm not suggesting that there's only a problem with that many, but that's about the scope you see here.

Well said
How exactly did you get left stranded? Did Ford Roadside Assistance tell you to bugger off when you called them? Did AAA refuse to answer when you called them? Did <insert name of any wrecking company on the planet> not race to take your money when you called? Did 9*1 hang up on you when you called for help?
You know, sh*t happens. Every single one of us (that's counting ALL car buyers, not just F150 buyers) plays the lottery that their vehicle won't have a mechanical problem. Sometimes stuff breaks. That's why we have the above-mentioned support services, plus warranties.
We're sorry to hear you had a break down (truck or you or maybe both...not sure yet). You've been amazingly fortunate to never have had anything break before, and from the rest of us who have encountered potholes in life....get over it.

This guy probably couldn't wait to get to a computer to tell the world how he got ripped off. My guess is the shine has worn off the truck, the realization of 60 more payments to go and buyers remorse has set in. (Probably has it chipped also) But it's all Ford's fault! Like no other vehicle EVER breaks. I think they call that "infant mortality". But yeaks! Give them a chance to at least warranty the damn thing before you start a thread like this.
