A 2015 arrived here in SA just a few minutes ago at Jordan Ford...my buddy said the Ford rep told him 30 mpg. I had heard 28 elsewhere, but 30 is even better. We'll just have to wait and see...

30 would have been my guess for the 2wd 2.7L short bed with higher gearing. Still, a 4x4 SCREW should get a pretty nice MPG boost with 700lbs less weight depending on engine. I believe it is 1-2% improvement per 100lbs, so 7-14%?

It does surprise me that the 3.5EB's numbers weren't tweaked a little more to separate it from the 2.7L. A tune on the 2.7L would get you to the 3.5L numbers and beyond probably depending on octane.

I think the 5.0L or at least a V8 will always be available. I know damn well if they stop putting a V8 in them I'll never buy another one. And I bleed Ford!
While we, as individuals, are entitled to our opinions, in the long term they don't matter. This is not a put-down of any opinions, just an explanation of how things work.

According to The Detroit News, the plant will add 300 new employees and will continue to produce the Duratec 3.5-liter V-6 as well. The all-new aluminum-bodied 2015 F-150 (due out later this year) will offer three V-6 engines and one V-8 variant.
According to a recent press release, Ford expects interest in the "fuel effective" V-6 to continue for years. In fact, in the first two months of 2014, 57 percent of Ford's F-150 sales have had V-6s under the hood, breaking down to 46 percent equipped with the EcoBoost and 11 percent with the base 3.7-liter.
According to our data, that means that more than 200,000 F-150s in 2013 had the EcoBoost engine, while more than 50,000 were equipped with the entry-level engine. We'll have a more detailed look at each truckmaker and sales data for the various pickup trucks next week, breaking down half-ton, three-quarter-ton, and one-ton sales by make and model.
So, the market will prevail, and people are going to vote with their wallets as to whether Ford should continue to support the V-8 engine.

I'm an agnostic on the V-8 matter, but with essentially the same hp as the 5.0 and 40 ft/lbs more torque at a lower rpm, you can see why people are going V-6 Eco. And the new 2.7 Eco will shift even more people away from a V-8. And that is just the way it is.

You can't be serious with this claim...
That argument could be made in the other direction too. Ford could easily tune the EB so it makes over 400HP and 500TQ.
I would say the EB has just as weak a tune as the 5.0. They are completely different applications tho, of course a TT motor will make more torque...
I think Ford tuned each motor to get a mixture of economy and performance.
Saying crap like that just makes you look like a V8 fan boy, and all it's going to do is start yet another 5.0 vs EB debate which is not what this thread is about.

Or, drive two vehicles as the occasion demands...one providing 38 mpg (Veloster 1.6) and another providing 28 mpg (2015 F-150 2.7 estimated) for an average of 33 mpg. A win-win for me.

MOST people care about how much they are spending, most of us choose not to wipe our asses with money.
You mad bro? Relax. Also you wanna know whats more relevant? Your driving style. So your argument is moot. Who cares if it gets 2 mpg more? What does that save you in a year ?

I like that I got under your skin though, enough for you to go into freak out mode, lol.

or drive three vehicles. One for you to get to work, one for your spouse to get to work, and a truck when you need it. Then you can pay insurance and payments on three vehicles. Yippie!!!
