Now imagine the 2.7 with an 8 speed auto! Better performance AND better fuel mileage. I'm hanging on to my 6 speed 3.5 until the new tranny comes along. I think the 2.7 will be enough for me; towing a 5,500 lb RV trailer.

Those are the old numbers. We are still waiting on the numbers for the 2015 3.5L EB and Mike Levine and Ford didn't report on it.

The engine will carry over, but that doesn't mean the #'s will stay the same. Mike says the 3.5 EB numbers will be announced soon.

I am hoping that, other than start/stop, the technology such as the block makeup and other enhancements of the 2.7 EB eventually carry over to the 3.5 EB.

As for the 5.0, to keep with the aluminum theme, they should use the Aluminator engines . The Aluminator XS could be a nice engine upgrade to the 6.2 for a new Raptor.

I'm an agnostic on the V-8 matter, but with essentially the same hp as the 5.0 and 40 ft/lbs more torque at a lower rpm, you can see why people are going V-6 Eco. And the new 2.7 Eco will shift even more people away from a V-8. And that is just the way it is.
And 43% were V8's, probably 33+% of total were the 5.0. The V8 will stick around because it is the second most popular option behind the EB (and considering lots of people buy what is on the lot, it is fairly easy to skew the numbers by allocating more EB's to dealers than 5.0's...I know when I got my last oil change, there were a lot of EB's and not many 5.0's, when I asked the sales manager, he said the 5.0's they can get tend to sell and once those are gone people buy what is left. It isn't entirely up to the dealer what they get to order.

(that said, my next truck will most likely have an EB in it...the truck I have now was a leftover, it just happened to have the 5.0, if it had had the EB I still would have bought it)

U kno i was critical on the 2.7L early on but seeing as ford is not upping the hp on the 3.5L ecoboost i might be tempted to get the 2.7L rather then the 3.5L

That is about 481.60 savings for me in my Boss 302. It could be higher if I didn't pull some really rough numbers out of my head.

We don't know what the power will be yet. It hasn't been announced.

However, my truck already has all the acceleration and power I'll ever need. Stock. Drop #700 and I can't even fathom how much faster it'll be.

Hell, I'd even take a power loss if they drop that much weight. I'd like to see an economy tune for city driving when it's stop light after stop light.
