2015 heated mirror swap?
Hey guys, I have an XLT without heated mirrors (or rear de-fog)
I have access to 2015+ heated mirrors and rear de fog switch at a scrap yard but my question is, will the harness I need to plug into the mirror heat be there or do I need to add a harness?

I believe the harness may be the same, however the heated mirror option probably won't work since you don't originally have that option. The only time my heated mirrors operate is when I push the rear defrost button... then both the mirrors and rear window defrost comes on at the same time. You could give it a try by replacing your center stack/radio bezel with one that has the rear defrost button.

It should work after changing the FCIM where the display and everything is. Also check which plug you have for your mirrors, 8 pin or 22 pin plugs on your truck. On the inside of the drivers door in front of the drivers window is a small plastic cover which just snaps off. Check which plug the new mirror has. Someone sells a converter 8 pin to 22 pin if you have to go that way.

I just checked and I have the 8 pin.
What does the 8 pin vs the 22 pin work with?

gives me a thought tho. If I find electric fold in mirrors for sale, does he 8 pin control that as well?
Also, can I assume the switch plug behind the dash will be there for the rear defeost button?

Side note: I really like that the rear window and mirror heat is automatically turned on when you remote start in cold weather along with the heater and heated seats.

What switch do you have? The FCIM controls the activation of the mirror and as someone else said it's linked with the rear defogger. There is no direct connection between the button and the mirror. You would need another FCIM module and the computer network may have to be programmed to recognize the new module.

Currenty, I don’t have rear defrost either but I was wondering if I plugged in the heated mirrors and changed the keypad to one with the rear defrost button would that trigger it to work?
If not, I’m somewhat familiar with Forscan, would that be something that can activate it after the mirrors and button is installed?

Right, if I’m not mistaken the rear defrost button is within the heat control keyboard right?

I added the 8 pin heated mirrors with turn signal to my 2015 XL. There was not much information when I changed them out so back then I found the radio bezel with a defrost button on ebay and swapped it out. That works fine and the heated mirrors work with no issue and it was plug and play. I later on added remote start and found the heated mirrors kicked in when using the remote start which usually was the only time I really needed it.
