WA on the West part of state it is huge problem. Any time I had issues there was lots of Company. Never once was there any pushback. Ford has a lot of data still the response is tough luck we will LL it or do nothing. So depending on where you are at you can choose LL or hire lawyer but Ford will never win a case against them for the problem. They seem fine at buying out the problem trucks.

If this goes on long enough I will be in a lemon law situation unfortunately. Many things I love about the truck, but long term I won't own a new vehicle with doors that wont operate reliably

Quick question for those of you with frozen latches, are you guys/gals taking your trucks through the automated car washes where huge volumes of high pressure water are being directed at the car? My theory is that those of you who are taking the truck through the automated car washes are likely to experience the frozen door latch, because the huge volume of water is directed at the truck, which makes its way past the window seal. Thus, the inside of your door is flooded with water, which then creates a humid cavity and makes it easier for ice crystals to form on the latches and freeze up the door mechanism.

My co-worker parked in her garage after taking the truck through the automated car wash, and her doors wouldn't latch the next morning. Whereas I only wand wash my truck, and I've never had the issue. I parked outside over the weekend when visiting the in-laws where the overnight ambient air temperature was colder than -30C (-22F), and my doors worked just fine. I also did wand wash the truck last week.

No car washes, only hand washed in my driveway

Cold snap here in Vancouver BC (-3C (26F) and going to -9C (16F) and yesterday drivers door frozen on my 2016 but got it to latch so left it and climbed in thru passenger front.

Today wanted to leave drivers so opened passenger again and that was now frozen but driver's worked.

This is absolutely ridiculous for a billion dollar company with 100+ years of experience.

My 1st Ford f150 too....something I wanted for 30 years....

I feel your pain. My first new Ford truck as well. Been wanting this one for quite a while.

My 15 Lariat crew lives in NE Indiana. Unfortunately I have to park outside. I have used numerous types of auto car washes in all types of weather conditions and temps. I never dry the truck off more than what the car wash does. I have never had an issue with any type of freezing. Not gloating, just weighing in on the carwash thought.
I don't understand what the difference could be in the same vehicle that would make some have constant issues and some have no issues at all. I can only imagine how frustrated I would be if I had the problem.
Is there any worry with the DIY fix that all that spraying inside the door is going to cause a problem with window tinting coming loose?

Default Dealer Called

Will be taking my truck in tomorrow to have door latches fixed using recent recall for 2018-2019 trucks according to service dept. I had to complain to the owner of the dealership, general manager, and service manager. That got the ball rolling since they were waiting for my VIN to go on the recall list. They aren't waiting now and going to do the repair. Said it's a 5 hour job. At least they're trying. Plenty more cold days this year to try it out.

Fingers crossed,
Tyman with the ratchet straps tied to the doors.

I've just gone through this same crap with my 18 F150 Plat.
Truck was built Sept 2018 and my dealer claimed my serial number was not part of the recall.
First attempt to fix, they dried and lubricated inside the panel. The NEXT day, first time I tried it, the door would not lock.
Scheduled it in the following week and they placed the door locking hardware.
It's been 2 weeks and so far..... touch wood.... it's been fine.

Good luck.
That worked for me. Also had to push the lock button down on the drivers door in order to engage the door latch.

Follow the logic here. If moisture causes the problem, sealing the door up supposedly tighter will also keep moisture in. Water will find a way in no matter what you do. The door cavity is next to the warm interior that with warmer air, will hold more moisture. The door cavity will always be colder than the interior of the truck. Moisture will condensate out quicker there making nice humid boxes. Help get rid of that moisture laden air quicker by venting the door, not sealing it up. Less moisture, less chance to get into places it should not be. I for one can't see logically how Ford's latest "fix" could possibly work long term. Sure short term after having the door cavity wide open for a day or two to dry out while it is performed may give a false fix until the humidity level cranks back up. I for one want to remove moisture at a faster rate than what is entering, and I sure don't want to seal it up to where there is now way to vent it out. Ghetto has worked for 4 of my aluminum trucks now from 32F down to -25F without fail so far. Freezing rain, car washes, outside parking, yup, still working. I never had to mess with the cables either inside the doors. I have 14 doors between these trucks. I am sure one would have failed already if ghetto had a flaw. Trucks were 2015, 2017, and two 2018's. The dealer only touched the 2015 a few years ago to add rain shields that did not help much before ghetto solved it. In less than 8 weeks with warmer weather, we will forget all about it until late next fall.
