Can't say I don't blame you....if I had the issues as bad as you did, I wouldn't still have the truck. Hope the Silverado treats you well.

Don’t blame you one bit for making that decision. I’ll most likely be saying goodbye to my F150 soon. This issue is simply inexcusable. SHAME ON YOU FORD!

There is no rhyme or reason to the failures as some reported similar issues without freezing/water involvement and seeing 2018 owners experiencing the problem attests to the fact that Ford has not yet found the root cause (TSBs and Recall not eliminating the problem either!) My own guess.... latch mechanism tolerances are off...... with cold exasperating the issue.... but what do I know....smile.... so far Ford has EXCLUDED latches from field fixes, although some dealer techs have changed latches on their own with some success... Russian Roulette as to if the replacement latch is problem free or not..... cannot find anywhere that Ford has released a NEW latch PN/suffix to solve the problem.

A member (ctshort09) on a related thread reported: "I've also seen at least two legal firms gathering class action information on this topic...as there are no doubts that this is a safety issue."....... no kidding!!... not to mention the resale value of ALL our 2015+s..... remember what the "so-called Unintended Acceleration scare" did to Audi values a few decades ago....and of course air bag issues more recently.....

I continue to try to directly contact someone within Ford Engineering to dig into this with them as Tim and I did with the "Cooling Seat" fiasco..... so far no luck in doing so..... AZPLAT
This door latch issue has gone on for a long, long time with Ford. Just google Ford Door latch issues...look for Taurus, Fiesta, Focus, Explorer etc. Whether these are directly related failures, I can't say but clearly, this is a Trend and their darling F150 is in the crosshairs too. You even have Ford mechanics on forums and mine personally admitting this is completely an engineering flaw and they do not have a "fix".

Ford has admitted they don't have a fix either... here was the resolution statement on my Case that was given last week in writing (I asked for it): "Per your request, in regards to your ’16 F-150 and repeated issue you are experiencing with the door latches, regrettably there has not been determined another repair path to address the concern. Once a determination is made on how to next attempt to repair this issue, customers will certainly be informed."

I can assure you, there isn't a Fix coming anytime soon because 10+ years of history suggests as much. Good luck @Stockman, maybe open one extra door for the rest of us...

I had a 2011 for 4+ years, with nary an issue. This is the 3rd winter with my 2015, and up until this winter, I hadn't had any issues.

Frustrating. And it struck again today (even with no rain and plenty of door opening/closing yesterday). This time it was the driver's side back door, which previously hadn't been an issue.

I had to push the lock down on that door to get it to latch. The driver's door, which has been problematic, wasn't an issue today.

Yep. No garage at my house, so my vehicles stay outside all the time.

For clarification, here's the timeline for the last 24 hours:

Yesterday:
8AM: 43 and light rain.
12PM: 45, sunny, roads drying.
1-3PM: drove to an appointment, 47 degrees, ~20 miles round trip.
4:30PM-5:30PM: highway driving (50+ miles), 39 degrees. partly cloudy, no rain.
10PM-11PM: highway driving (50+ miles), 41 degrees where I started, 31 degrees at home.

Today:
8AM: 28 degrees, partly cloudy, no rain, slight frost on bed cover, nothing on windshield. This is when I had the issue.

Update : My 2016 Scab XLT 302a didn't have any problems the 1st yr.
Then I got a recall letter, but still no problem. ( that's when i found this thread and voted)
This winter the drivers door opened but would not close....(multiple attempts and it finally latched) Only happened the one time so far.....Rain changed to snow and the temps dropped to the teens.
The truck sits outside in the Michigan weather.

I'm going to take it apart and have a look see sometime this month.
I will take pics as I go along and post them here.
Also going to look more into the Fluid Film vs The Amsoil product....( I have Fluid Film already) they look similar.

I have a 2018 Supercrew Platinum with 3000 miles on it - purchased end of Sept 2017. We live in the Seattle area so generally it doesn't get too cold. Well we had some sunny weather the past few days and I was out there on Saturday afternoon washing my truck with temp about 47....my neighbor has a prior generation F150 (not sure of precise year) ans he was washing his too. Sunday weather was about the same and we drove the truck all day. Monday morning had to bring my daughter to school around 7 am and started the truck remotely. The temp was about 27 overnight and that's when this issue popped up. The passenger side door wouldn't latch - took about 20 tries to get it to latch. This morning - same weather - about 25. Again, the passenger side door wouldn't latch. If I got in the truck and pulled the door closed and used the interior button it finally latch but i had to crawl over the console and out the other door. I am going to drop it at the dealer tonight - they seemed familiar with the TSB when I mentioned it. We are supposed to go up to BC for this weekend and into next week and the mountain temps are looking pretty cold. I hope they are able to get this resolved. It's very frustrating, particularly on a new vehicle and our first truck and Ford. I also had that FordPass outage back in October so this will be the second service trip already.

I just posted in the sticky thread but also have a 2018 and just experienced this issue 2x in 2 days. Also live in Washington state in Seattle area - not much freezing weather but the past 2 mornings have been in the mid 20s.
