2015+ Frozen door latch TSB/ Recall
#11
Happend to me for the first time this morning. Temps were 13 degrees F according to the truck. Both rear doors would not unlock or lock electrically with either the remote or interior switch. Could manually open/close and lock and unlock just fine.
By the time I got to work the drivers rear worked but not the passengers. Just went out to check it again and both tears work again...

We had our first cold day here yesterday, 17 degrees over night, and I experienced this twice already. First, the tail gate would not unlock. A problem at the time since I have a cover and could not get in to it.
Again this morning, I noticed my rear door was unlocked, when it should have been locked given i had just remote started it it. I'm guessing it never locked the night before.
This is def a problem. I have to bring my truck in soon for service, and am going to ask about it.

my 2015 F-150 door locks are also not working properly during weather below 32 degrees. I took my vehicle to ford services and they told me they were unable to replicate the door lock failure therefore they couldn't help me. The locks will open ands sometime close but then involuntarily open and won't latch again. very frustrating!

Well, mine has been in twice so far for this - I've got an appt tomorrow to take it in again - along with the tsb that has been issued. If they give me a hard time I'll mention this:
Q: How many attempts must be made to repair a vehicle before it can be considered a lemon?
A: Before a vehicle can be considered a "lemon," there must be a manufacturer's defect that "substantially impairs" its use, value or safety. If one or more of the following circumstances occur within the first year or 18,000 miles (whichever occurs first), the manufacturer, through the dealer, is presumed to have made a reasonable number of attempts to repair the vehicle if:
1) substantially the same problem has been subject to repair three or more times, and still exists or recurs;
2) the vehicle has been out of service for a total of 30 or more calendar days for repairs;
3) eight or more attempts have been made to repair a substantial problem covered by the warranty;
4) there has been at least one repair attempt for a safety-related problem, and the problem either continues to exist or recurs.
I can't imagine your door's not latching to be anything other than a safety related issue.

Looks like I'm joining the club on this one. I thought the cable had broke on my passenger side. didn't attempt to even move like the rest of the doors, but opened from the inside. about 9 hour later I tried again and worked just fine. Was puzzled until I saw all the issues on here. It was only 13 out too. Not that cold if you ask me. I had driven the truck with the heat blast of over an hour too and that didn't free it up. I had just assumed it was a mechanical issue.

I have the same problem with the crew cabs not unlocking when its freezing temps. Called my dealer and he order the parts as part of tsb 15-0052.
I see the tsb was posted online april 8 2015. So i was surprized to see ford still putting in the bad latches/cables. My build is 11/15 ,so thats 7 months later.
Here is my video i took so i can show my dealer the problem.

Good luck with the wait...had my truck in in January and just had the parts installed yesterday. I dont think that it is going below freezing anymore here in Toronto so I don't know if the problem is solved. Knowing Ford and this problem I am pretty sure that I will be back at the dealership in December.

Reviving this thread. My truck was covered in ice this morning in Seattle, really cold morning. Warmed it up for 20 minutes and then went to close the driver door and THUD THUD THUD! The worst! I was so pissssed! After opening the garage door and fiddling with a flat head screw driver I decided the best course of action was to go back in the house and drop some F-Bombs about this POS truck blah blah to my wife, lol!
Luckily, my wife had a more clear head and said ok ill push it closed you lock it, it worked!
This evening driving home from work it latched on it's own. I guess this weekend I'll hit it with the compressor and put some slime in there too.
Anyone else having this issue? I'm from upstate NY where it's REALLY cold often, i would imagine this happens to people a lot?
