I drove mine like this for months it's was annoying but I had no other vehicle. I haven't had any issues since I got it back. It's strong now I hope they fix the issue for you if they need info have them call Mike Owens at star ford in Glendale California. Him and his guy there are the best

SSM 46494 - 2015 F-150 - Squawk During 6-3 And/Or 5-3 Downshifts During Hard Acceleration -5.0L Engine - Built On 15-Apr-2015 And Through 15-Jul-2015

Some 2015 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine and built on 15-April-2015and through 15-July-2015 may exhibit a 6-3 and or 5-3 downshift squawk noise onhard acceleration. This may be caused by the overdrive clutch plate material. A revised clutch plate part number 9L3Z-7B164-E should be used to resolve this concern. Advise the customer that driving in a variety of city and highway settings and to limit towing for 1,000 miles after the repair will increase the chances for proper overdrive clutch plate break in. For claiming, use causal part 7B164 and applicable labor operations in section 07 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.

Hey Guys, I just picked up my truck this morning after having this problem diagnosed and fixed. I gave the service adviser the text referencing SSM 46494 and he let the transmission shop have at it.

Here is what they found/did:

"CK FOR TRANS HARD DOWN SHIFT; CK FLUID - LEVEL OK, CONDITION BURNT. ROAD TEST VERIFY CUSTOMER CONCERN, TRANS HARD UP AND DOWN SHIFT. EEC TEST CODE P0733. ROAD TEST WITH IDS MONITOR. GEAR MODE TR AND SOLENOIDS FOUND WHEN PCM COMMAND 3RD GEAR RPM'S OVER REBS. REMOVED TRANS AND TEAR DOWN. FOUND DIRECT INNER PISTON SEAL TORN CAUSING PRESS TO LEAK AND BURN DIRECT AND INTER CLUTCHES. OVERHAUL TRANS AS NECESSARY. REPLACED ALL SEALS AND DIRECT/INTER CLUTCHES. REWORK VB FOUND CLUTCH CONTAMINATION. FLUSH COOLER AND LINES. FLUSH CONVERTER AND INSTALL TRANS. INSTALL TRANS AND ADD FLUID. CLEAR CODES AND ROAD TEST 10 MILES. ALL SHIFTS OK NO HARSH SHIFTS NO DELAYS EEC TEST NO CODES. TRANSMISSION OPERATES OK." Good luck translating some of that...

Here are parts replaced:
1 BL3Z-7153-B KIT - GASKET
1 BL3Z-7A098-A - SCREEN ASSEMBLY
5 6L2Z-7B164-B - PLATE ASSEMBLY DRIVE
5 6L2Z-7B442-BA - DRIVEN PLATE - STEEL
5 6L2Z-7B164-B - PLATE ASSEMBLY DRIVE
5 6L2Z-7B442-CA - DRIVEN PLATE - STEEL

Time will tell if this has fixed the problem as I only experienced it about a half dozen times since I have owned the truck. Now 30k miles.

Service at Bob Wondries Ford in Alhambra, CA.

So my truck makes the exact same noise and I couldn't figure out how to replicate it. I'm so glad I found this forum! My truck has 36,700 miles on it, would this be covered under the powertrain warranty I'm assuming?

Mines at ford currently getting a partial trans rebuild.

Use select shift and click down to 5th gear while in drive. Cruise up a hill at 40 in 5th, give 1/4 throttle to downshift into third. Replicated everytime for me and I took video to the dealer.

well, my 2015 5.0 about a week ago started having this issue.

Since this is a lease Ill try to bring it in but if the dealer tells me its normal at least there will be a record for the next owner.
