Trucks need V8s period. If Ford was serious about truck owners wants, with today's tech, they could make a plenty economical line of V8s. You know it as well as I do. They don't need archaic fossils like the 6.2. They CAN do more with less, but do it with 8 cylinders!!! The so called mpg advantage of EB engines is a bunch of horse sh!!t. EB owners know it, we all know it. Real world numbers are not exactly what is claimed. My 5.0 gets 17 in town consistently. That's not much worse than a EB, plus it will match or beat a EB's mpg under load,,,and it's a mans engine, a V8. When you try to pull or haul anything with a piddly little EB your mpg goes directly into the sh!!ter. You know it so give it up. If anything Ford should invest in V8s and if they need an average mpg booster, put a freakin diesel in their half tons. Everyone knows diesels kick any gassers azz in mpg under load and can beat a turboed gasser in real world mpg. See RAM!!! They are gonna sell the crap out of those ecodiesels and take chunk out of potential EB buyers. Just watch. Ford has it right in reducing weight. They are going the wrong way by pursuing those ridiculous V6 engines. Imagine what they could accomplish with a lighter truck and a more efficient and powerful V8. I snicker at every sucker with an EB badge on their "truck". You defenders of EB can keep spewing your justifications. Lol! So yeah Ford IS shoving their turboed V6 crap down our throats. V6 belong in 20-somethings poor boy trucks and cheap azz fleet trucks. Give me a V8 and stop Fn around.
Verbal diarrhea at its best. If you don't like the ecoboost DON'T BUY IT. I have had EVERY motor in the F150 line up at one point or another from my 83 with an inline 6 to my 2012 ecoboost and have loved them all. I buy what I like and you **** off and buy what you like. I can't believe Ford hasn't sought you out and hired you to design the 2015 because you obviously know more than their engineers. I have no idea how Ford has been able to hold their best selling records without you. As I said, verbal diarrhea......

I think I a dumber for reading this. I don't care if it has an 8 a 6 or a 2 cylinder if it gets the job done reliably. If you drank the cool aid and thought that the EB really offered the holy grail of fuel economy and power then lesson learned. And before you go off about how unreliable the EB is remember Ford has only sold 400,000 of them and counting so a cross section of complaints on a forum does not sway me one way or the other. The argument that a truck has to have an 8 to be a "real man's truck" which is the basis of this garble is ridiculous. I think from a business point of view Ford has hit the nail on the head offering a selection of engines. Different strokes for different folks. Looks like they are adding to the mix with the 2015 lineup. Ford continues to have the number one selling truck in North America for a reason. The EB, love it or hate it, has been a huge success from a marketing standpoint for Ford.

Wow. What really gets me is the fact that he supposedly has a Ford. It cracks me up that Ford has "fans" such as these that spew at the mouth about how good their 5.0 V8 is and the same companies "other engine" is junk even though it is well on its way to outselling the good ole V8! Is the V8 the best V8 Ford has put out in some time? I would say definitely yes to this question. Nice truck to drive, love the sound. But if you want to strap on a 7000 lb trailer and meet me somewhere flat ground or mountains with my Eco and the same trailer I kinda think you'd change your tune as you are staring at my tail lights running off in the distance and your V8 is screaming its lungs out at 5000 rpm. Your only justification for your argument is "trucks need V8's period". Pretty very educated reasoning but to each their own I guess. Ford is "shoving" nothing down anyone's throat. Choice is a good thing. If I wanted to buy a V8 F150 I would have. I wanted something that gets good mileage and would also pull circles around my old truck. My Eco does that and more. Nicest VEHICLE I've ever owned, not just truck. I get the impression that once your 5.0 disappears from the lineup you may change brands? Oh well.....says Ford engineers and marketers etc....Ford isn't number one by a pretty wide margin in the truck game by accident you know.

And if you think the ecodiesel Ram is gonna kill Ford sales think again. First of all YOU CANT GET THEM. The dealers are gonna rape people because there will be some demand for them and the supply is severely short.

Lol Fanboy huh? Im assuming that was directed at me. Just FYI My F150 Has a 5.4 so im far from a fanboy. Great engine, so is the 5.0. Drive all three on a regular basis, and if i was in the market for a new truck it would be an eco hands down.... and nobody would have to shove it down my throat...

I love my 5.4 as well, and love v8's. But if I were to own a new truck it would def be the Eco because of towing.

Love the engine options. As a first time truck owner this past May, I fell in love with the ecoboost option they offered. Quite honestly, I would not have jumped into a truck if they had not offered this. I don't tow, I seldom haul anything but the occational trip to Home Depot or a furniture store, but I have a family of four and am getting bored of minivans. Believe it or not I'm probably the exact buyer they are shooting for. I wanted power to have fun with, and possibly a future tune if I got bored which would be easy and quickly reversible if desired. Pick the engine you want for the job you want it to do. Perfect in my opinion.
