Ok ran it down till the low fuel light came on.... first time for me. Said I used 30.4 gallons and it took and it took 31.3 to fill it. I was showing 20.8MPG and hand calc was 19.7MPG. almost 85% city driving and using Sport mode about 1/4 of the tank in town.
It seems to be spot on for me if I'm not dropping below half a tank but have some loss with running to empty. I can live with the numbers... dam winter blend ethanol dropped me 1MPG though!

I have 6500 miles on my 2.7 SCREW 4x2 3.31:1 rear axle. I have compared my actual calculated MPG to that shown on the on board dash readout and it has been off 10-12% since new (truck usually shows 22 MPG and calculated is about 19.9 MPG).

First tank: 19.8 mpg on dash and right at that hand calculated and the amount of fuel matched up as it should. I'm excited because that's at least 70/30 city to highway with 380 miles on the truck.
I owned a Focus ST prior to this and got used to the ecoboost mill and how to get somewhat good MPGs and as someone said previously, use the turbos to get to speed and then stay out of them with very little throttle input and you'll maximize. I just use the mpg gauge to drive around town as a visual. That 19.8 was with extended periods of idol and a few spirited sessions to feel the turbos at work. This truck, if driven properly will be very good on gas for me, I can already tell. My guess is that 22 avg is possible for me in a 2wd XLT SCrew with standard gears.
