Thanks for the writeup and info. This is something I really want to do before winter. The price is still holding me back but eventually I'll impulse buy and do it.

Thanks for the write up! I took a stab at this in March but wimped out (pulling off body work is where I draw the line!) But your write makes it look doable. Pulling off the surround looks to be the most difficult part. I'm worried that I'm going to break those clips off. How much pressure did you apply when pulling it off? How many clips are there? Also, I see you have some silicone and cutting pliers in your photo, did you use those?

Thanks again!!!!!

AWESOME MAN!!! BRAVO!!!! Thank you for this write up... I am on the list for a blacked out set from Dawson, but I have been looking for an install or a removal tutorial of how to remove the headlights...

Thanks to you now I have it... Seems very doable to do it in my garage. I was worried but not so much any more.

Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Is the LED ring suppose to blink when the turn signal is on? Do trucks that come with LED headlights from the factor do this? Haven't been able to get an answer or find a video with confirming this.

Thanks!

Sorry for the late response. The red/white tube is dielectric grease to put on the wire connection plugs.

The surround has approximately 8-10 clips molded in on the back side of the surround that clip into the headlight assy.. After you take the upper pushpin out of the top of the surround, just start pulling out from the top and they will pull out one at a time until you end up at the fender lip molding (if you have one) and the surround will pull out of the 2 clips that are in the fender lip molding. Moderate pressure-don"t be afraid to pull but don't jerk. You will be fine.

My amber LED rings do not blink. They come on when the headlight switch is in the park light position and when in the headlight position.

The turnsignal is the part in the center of the light between the high and low beams.

Someone that has them factory installed will have to chime in but I would think they would be the same.

The outer ring doesn't blink with turn signal on mine and they are factory, I actually wondered this myself and tried it as I pulled in the garage last night where i could see the reflection from the glass on our garage door.
